“Ideal location and quality experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

I stayed at this hotel for two nights during a recent conference - my husband and two teen daughters were along. The hotel was easy to get to from the 79 and had a convenient public parking garage right across the street - We opted for public parking instead of valet ($29/day for valet and $29 for two days in ramp). The service was excellent, from front desk to housekeeping to concierge and other staff - very friendly, helpful and courteous. The rooms were very clean and spacious and comfortable - with refrigerator. One down side is having to pay for wifi (per day rate of $10), but everything else was great - lobby and lower level spaces are gorgeous and fun to wander around (Starbucks on first floor was the "fanciest" one ever according to my girls!), with several options for dining in and out very close by. Would definitely return for business or pleasure!

I stayed nearby at the Westin but wish I'd stayed here! The beautiful old lobby drew me in and I sat down for a martini and a snack. Server Tanya was lovely and perfect - she made me feel like I'd made a new friend. She was knowledgeable about the hotel and efficient at her work. I had the locally produced charcuterie plate, which at $11 is the best deal in the country, and the martini was perfect. Because I was so curious about the hotel, and Pittsburgh history in general, she introduced me to her associate Darrell, who was full of information. These two clearly love this hotel and love their jobs, which is exactly what I want in a hotel or restaurant. Kudos!

We also wish you had been able to stay at our hotel but we are delighted that you enjoyed your time in the Palm Court. It will be our pleasure to share your compliments with Tanya and Darrell. We are lucky to have them and love the opportunity to recognize them for a job well done. We hope that the next time your travels bring you to Pittsburgh you will consider us for your accommodations.

We booked our weekend via a discounter. We got an excellent rate so we expected a mediocre room near the elevator [ding] or ice machine [crash] and a less than friendly reception.
Boy, was I wrong!
I was pleasantly surprised from moment one.
We pulled up and asked where to park, the valet was so friendly and told us he'd charge $29 to valet in the same garage, if we parked it would be $5. Wow, who does that?

We were welcomed at the front desk as if we'd paid $1000 a night. Incredibly helpful, warm, staff. Delightful. The lobby is gorgeous.

Our room not only was on a nice quiet hall, it was beautifully appointed. Large, with everything you'd need or want, including a large desk, lots of outlets to charge our gadgets, a big comfy chair with ottoman, wine fridge, coffee service, a bathroom with a fan, large tub, counter space... [we travel a lot, these things are SO NICE to have!] even Q-tips.

We had a long night setting up for an event, so those comfortable beds were fantastic. Plenty of pillows, nice sheets... and then, when I got up in the dark for a stroll to the WC, a cute little nightlight came on to guide the way, motion sensor ticked on when my feet hit the floor. Reading lights above the bed made it possible for me to read while my honey was snoozing.

We ordered our breakfast by hanging a menu on the door - and it was late. Our hot breakfast arrived on time, it was delicious.

I have to say, one of my pet peeves is when the maids don't replace coffee or bathroom items...or fail to clean around our stuff... we came back each night to a perfectly clean room, with coffee and toiletries stocked.

We had a late day Sunday, and were heading out for dinner after 9 p.m. The desk clerks recommended some restaurants to try within walking distance. We had a wonderful meal just a few blocks away.

I couldn't have been happier. A perfect rating from me is almost impossible, and this hotel hits all the high marks!

Just got back from a weekend stay at the Omni WIlliam Penn. From the time we pulled in and a gentlemen started unloading our luggage for us we felt welcomed and that our business was important. Very fast check in and our luggage was promptly brought to our room. Darrel the gentleman that delivered our luggage was extremely friendly and you could tell he was enjoying his job. All in all, excellent service and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

My husband, toddler, and I needed a room for one night in Pittsburgh while driving to the East Coast, and the Omni William Penn was the hotel we selected. Conveniently located in the middle of Pittsburgh's downtown area, this opulent hotel was beautiful and clean. Our room - with two double beds, a fridge, an incredibly comfortable chair, and a great view - was perfect. We would absolutely stay again.

(We happened to arrive in The 'Burgh on the opening night of the annual Three Rivers Arts Festival, which was only a few block walk from the hotel. So, what was only intended as an overnight stay wound up being a trip to an arts festival with a free concert by Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeroes and a delicious dinner from some food trucks/vendors.)

Room Tip: We lucked out on this hotel via Hotwire.

We ended up at the Omni William Penn by chance and could not have been happier! The hotel still has all the sophistication and elegance as it probably did when it opened back in 1916 but also has a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. When we arrived we were greeted by John Paul who is a bell hop that is very knowledgable about all things Pittsburgh and can tell you how to get just about anywhere. At the front desk was Margareta who also went out of her way to help us. No king rooms were available but Margareta informed us she could have us moved the next day if we wished but mentioned we would probably like the queen room we were being given. Well, she was right! The queen room was great! Views were great! Room itself a little small but keep in mind this hotel is almost a hundred years old and in the middle of the city. Thats how they built them back then. They have done extensive renovating to update the rooms, the beds are VERY comfy, the closet had ample space, and the bathroom was great.
There are several options for dining while at the hotel, while we didnt eat there they do have good reviews. There is also the Speakeasy which is worth the time just to poke your head inside and get a feel for the atmosphere. There is also a Starbucks and a tip-coffee is available in the lobby when the coffee shop is closed and a gift shop that also has anything you may have forgotten at home.
The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to anything downtown. If you drive in and opt to not do valet-29.00 per day there is a garage across the street-5.00 a day on weekends but the clearance is only 6 feet-FYI. There is another garage within 2 blocks that can handle taller vehicles.
All in all, this is a great, classic hotel. A quick internet search on the hotel and its famous past will make it all the more alluring and you wont have to break the bank to enjoy. Happy travels

Room Tip: The hotel is basically shaped like a double horseshoe so if you dont request a view you may be stari...

If you are looking for something different then this is your place, not a typical chain hotel.
They have absolutely respected the beautiful architecture and design the build had in its day.
The service was great, no complaints.
