We booked our weekend via a discounter. We got an excellent rate so we expected a mediocre room near the elevator [ding] or ice machine [crash] and a less than friendly reception.
Boy, was I wrong!
I was pleasantly surprised from moment one.
We pulled up and asked where to park, the valet was so friendly and told us he'd charge $29 to valet in the same garage, if we parked it would be $5. Wow, who does that?
We were welcomed at the front desk as if we'd paid $1000 a night. Incredibly helpful, warm, staff. Delightful. The lobby is gorgeous.
Our room not only was on a nice quiet hall, it was beautifully appointed. Large, with everything you'd need or want, including a large desk, lots of outlets to charge our gadgets, a big comfy chair with ottoman, wine fridge, coffee service, a bathroom with a fan, large tub, counter space... [we travel a lot, these things are SO NICE to have!] even Q-tips.
We had a long night setting up for an event, so those comfortable beds were fantastic. Plenty of pillows, nice sheets... and then, when I got up in the dark for a stroll to the WC, a cute little nightlight came on to guide the way, motion sensor ticked on when my feet hit the floor. Reading lights above the bed made it possible for me to read while my honey was snoozing.
We ordered our breakfast by hanging a menu on the door - and it was late. Our hot breakfast arrived on time, it was delicious.
I have to say, one of my pet peeves is when the maids don't replace coffee or bathroom items...or fail to clean around our stuff... we came back each night to a perfectly clean room, with coffee and toiletries stocked.
We had a late day Sunday, and were heading out for dinner after 9 p.m. The desk clerks recommended some restaurants to try within walking distance. We had a wonderful meal just a few blocks away.
I couldn't have been happier. A perfect rating from me is almost impossible, and this hotel hits all the high marks!
