“Never been treated better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

I've known the William Penn Hotel for over 50 years. The Omni Chain has a jewel in this addition to their collection. The hotel was always elegant. The elegance has been enhanced by an excellent staff, classy rooms, fabulous service and some of the best night's sleep ever. Always book it for Pittburgh.

Room Tip: Higher floors are perfect for feeling like royalty. The lobby a great place to meet for tea or a dr...

The Omni William Penn is a beautiful hotel, with remarkable historical features and a great location in the heart of Pittsburgh. Public areas were just gorgeous, and the feel at the restaurant and Tap Room was very classy. Our hotel room was very spacious, yet a bit dark. We liked the extremely quick elevator service. Parking below Mellon Square in front of the hotel was cheap and efficient, and when we asked at the hotel whether it was safe, we were reassured that it was, given that the hotel also used the garage for its valet parking. We also felt safe at night walking around the city, although some areas still seemed to be transitioning.

We would have given the hotel a top rating, but two factors held it down: First, the check-in was unbelievably slow. The hotel was fully booked, yet only one woman was working at check-in, and she had to deal with a seemingly complicated case, causing many people to wait for what seemed like an eternity. And second, the mattress was on the very soft side, making one feel every move at night.

Pittsburgh was a positive surprise to us, and I am sure we will be back.

Well the hotel is fantastic, the staff is mediocre at best. I had 12 rooms for 4 nights and we had a host of issues. No hotwater in one room for two days, guess they thought a cold shower was a pick me up. Then they checked one of the rooms out when we were discussing billing. Wouldn't have been so bad except they picked up medications and sent to security, I have all by my one vile of diabetic medication returned, gave front desk address to overnight home, and still haven't received it. Insurance company won't purchase a new one, as too soon. This is 600 dollars for an injectiable refill pen. No one at front desk had called me or returned my email, sad part is the housekeeper cleaning my room told me what she did with the medication and described it, but the security front desk can not find it. This place is a joke! For this price stay at the Westin. Better service, and a management that cares!

We were dismayed to read your review but are thankful that you also shared the same information through our in house feedback system so that we could have the opportunity to reach out to you and learn more about what may have happened. Your stay is uncharacteristic of what our guests normally experience and we apologize that our team did not put their best foot forward during your time with us. We truly hope that we will have the opportunity to speak you so that we may resolve your concerns and address what may have happened with our associates.

I spent the week at the Omni for work meetings and the staff were terrific! As the planner for the meetings working with them via email and phone was a breeze and then even easier/better on site. They were pleasant, took care of our members and made everyone feel like a VIP. It is a great hotel for business meetings. The rooms are very nice, quiet and clean, so staying for a personal trip would be a nice experience as well. Plenty of great places to walk to from this centrally located hotel as well- sites, restaurants, galleries, etc.
I'm looking forward to a social visit to Pittsburgh and hope to stay at the Omni!

I usually prefer to stay at Marriotts, but I found this hotel to be absolutely beautiful! I stayed for a work meeting for a couple nights, so I didn't get a chance to see everything. The entrance lobby is gorgeous, the rooms are very spacious, and the bathrooms have nice marble countertops and hardware. (the only negative comment is that I noticed there was a smell coming from the bathroom... It smelled like an old wet bath towel that's been sitting around. Everything looked clean,so I think it may have been the shower curtain). Even though the hotel has been around for awhile they seem to take care of it well. Service was excellent.

Wanna see what a real hotel stay is like?
Wanna see how service used to be?
Wanna really feel special for a while?

Then u have to stay a few days at the En.Penn in Pittsburgh.
Almost 100 yrs old, totally upgraded but kept old traditions in tact. Gives other Grande Dames like Waldron, Parker House, Drake, a run for their money. U never have to leave the property but if I do, u can walk most places.
Be sure to get a history lesson from Darryl the Bellman and don't miss the brunch.
Ask about public parking options and room sizes.
If you like a real hotel experience....this is it for sure. Staff are well trained, experienced and attentive. Atmosphere will blow u away.

Booked this hotel for a great price through Priceline. It is very clean and has been somewhat modernized, but not so much that it's lost the historic charm. The staff was extremely polite and went out of their way to ensure that we had everything needed for a pleasant overnight stay. Some noisy neighbors were yelling in the hallway and the room next door and all it took was one call and the problem was solved. I would definitely stay here again, but would recommend saving money by parking across the street.
