My new wife and I had the opportunity to spend our wedding night at the Inns on Negley in Shadyside, Pa. Our experience was fantastic. The bed was extremely comfortable and the amazing two person shower was great. The breakfast in the morning was better than any that I have had in a restaurant- freshly made, great variety, nice private dining area. We are looking forward to returning for another visit.

I stayed at the Inn at 714 Negley, which is a sister Inn to the Appletree Inn right across the street. I stayed in the Highland Suite.

My husband made the comment that this place will spoil you, because of the beauty and luxury of it. I found the Inn to be clean, cozy, comfortable, and luxorious. The bedding was very soft and the decor was perfectly arranged. I really enjoyed the bose alarm clock/radio/cd player available bedside and the TV with build in DVD player. The jetted shower system was very nice, the extra jets really massage your back while showering.

I surprised my husband with a romantic evening for his birthday and this Inn really was wonderful for that purpose. Everything was included such as robes, shampoo, soap, lotion, shower cap, hairdryer, make-up mirror, and plenty of towels.

Breakfast was also included. My huband had a vegetable omelette with a side of toast and raspberry jam and I had apple cinnamon crepes. Fresh fruit cups topped with toasted coconut were served as an appetizer. The other menu choice for the day was oatmeal. They also had side items available continental sytle including: scones, sweetbread, muffins, cereal, yogurt, coffee, orange juice, cranberry juice, and milk. The breakfast was delicious, a perfect ending to a wonderful stay.

I would recommend this Inn and I would stay there again. I am thinking about staying here for my wedding anniversary this September, and possibly making it a tradition.

My husband and I stayed at the Appletree several years ago for one night before a flight for our honeymoon - it was a lovely B&B.

We recently stayed at the Inns on Negley again for our Anniversary - it was not a pleasant experience at all.

The Inn paid no attention to the overnight guests, the corporate retreats and political events were clearly more important to the hosts. We did not get to eat breakfast in the beautiful sun room, as it was setup for the corporate events. We were placed in a tiny room with tables barely large enough to fit two plates.

Albert is not much of a host. While it is possible that he is shy, it seems more like he doesn't want to be bothered by guests. We asked for champagne and chocolates upon arrival, as it was our anniversary. They were not provided. I'd informed the innkeeper of a package that I was expecting. I'd asked about it several times and was told it had not been received. I happened to notice a package on the porch, it was the package I was expecting and it had been delivered the day before.

There were two bottles of water in our room upon arrival. After that there was a sign posted that said water available from the innkeeper for over $2 a bottle. We've been to many B&Bs, and even the less expensive ones provide a bottle of water every day.

Our room looked nice in the pictures, but it has suffered some damage. A large chunck of plaster was missing from the fireplace surround (about 6"x6"). As another reviewer noted, the house is quite malodoriferous. Some parts of the house smelled like raw sewage.

The Inns on Negley are in a great location and have lots of potential. However, the attitude and the upkeep are in need of significant improvement.

Bottom line - don't waste your money.

My Wife and I spent a lovely romantic night at the Inns. They were beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Also, exceptionally clean. Would recommend and return!
