“Lots of Park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

Allegheny Co. has the most public parks and most park area per sq. mile than any other county in the US. South park is the largest county park and has lots to do and is clean and well patrolled by county police. You can walk anywhere in this park and feel secure. Also has an outdoor concert series at the ampitheater.

“LOVE this PARK”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

Happily I live only 6 miles away, so I am at the park at least 4 days a week. I'm there primarily for exercise.....so I am walking all over the place, up hills and on paths, along the main road too. Hills are an excellent way of a cheap "weight reduction!" Meaning I've lost a good bit of weight walking. There are quite a few playgrounds for children. On Friday nights at the auditorium there are free concerts, all types of music from blues, to country, to the Pittsburgh Symphony. And its FREE! There is a big car cruise and entertainment on the 15th of July. There are plays for children and adults at the Playhouse. There are free swimming lessons at the wave pool for kids, and there is a colonial log house, with demonstrations, everything from how to shear sheep to how they cooked a hundred years ago.
