First of all, this museum is a no-brainer if you are planning to go to the Heinz History Center or the Strip District. It's right next to, actually a part of the Heinz. If you aren't familiar with Pittsburgh, you need to first understand that they take their professional sports very seriously. This museum is dedicated to both the history of professional sports in the 'Burgh and their players, as well as the sports people who were born or grew up in Western Pa. You will be amazed at some of the names and you will find yourself saying to yourself.."Hey, I didn't know that!" . You'll see names like Joe Namath, from Beaver Falls PA, Dan Marino, from the 'Burgh as well as Johnny Unitas, Arnold Palmer & Honus Wagner. There is lots of info on the Crawford's, of the Negro Baseball League. You'll learn of people who got famous playing for Pittsburgh..people like Roberto Clemente, Willie "Pops" Stargell, Jerome Bettis, Franco Harris and there are so many more that it is pretty mind boggling for the sports aficionado. The cost of admission is paid for with your ticket to the Heinz Center. Go here, it is highly recommended by us!!
