“nice place , very nice staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2013

Very helpful staff and fairly a nice location to downtown. Rooms were very comfortable and very clean. Have to say there beds are very very comfortable. Staff was very helpful with finding a good place for us to have dinner downtown.

Back in the day, this really must have been gorgeous, I bet it was the best place to stay in the area!! Now, it's clean, helpful staff, hot and plentiful breakfast, just not updated furnishings. For me, I'd rather have outdated furnishings and be able to afford to stay there. We ate at the motel restaurant, which I rarely do, but I was pleasantly surprised. Very conveniently located to Monroeville, without paying the Monroeville rates!

Spent a weekend here, room very nice, beds-super nice work area and a comfortable chair.
Hotel Staff excellent and friendly. The hotel is built into a hill and the floors are laid out in strange manner, took a day to get used to going up a half flight and back down two, to get to meeting rooms. Hotel breakfast - OK but I have had better, much better. The juice, coffee, and muffins were good but the eggs were tasteless. The plumbing was the issue, the shower was difficult to control and you had to hold the handle down when you flushed the toilet. When asked at checkout if all was OK, I told them of my issues and they did say the whole hotel was being refurbished.

The staff members were exceptionally friendly. The room was large and comfortable. It was also very quiet and we slept well. Parking was close and convenient. Just a few minutes from our destination in downtown Pittsburgh.

All staff was very nice.

The rooms seemed to be clean. But when you plug in your phone charger into the outlet, the drywall was split and gave! When I attempted to take the hairdryer off the base, the entire unit came out of the wall. Then hair dryer did not work.

The pool and hot tub seemed to be clean. Pool too cool for my taste. BUT women's 'locker room'! HORRIBLE. Dirty, dirty, dirty. No soap in the dispenser. Towels for the pool were hand towel size.

The food was average for the continental breakfast other than the addition of hot sausage and eggs, no waffle maker but I do not care about that. I did wish for some whole grain bread.

The room service pizza was good! But in addition to the 15% service charge for room service, the person delivering the pizza was waitstaff & expected an additional tip. Is this usual?

I had a feeling of nice people, good service but shoddy worn out public areas. The carpet was worn and things just seemed to need to be cleaned and updated to me.
Overall, I just would not want to stay here again.

Room Tip: Multiple levels, long hallways so ask for a room near the staircase to avoid long hikes down the hal...

September 2013 - 160 hotels on offer in Pittsburgh none of them available. Therefore I ended in this hotel. Decent price however hotel is in middle of nowhere, trucks with humming cooling devices just under the windows.
And free breakfast? Worst combination of American food - powdered eggs, every food full of corn sirup, orange juice from concentrate and microwave heated croissant not to mention all eaten by plastic cutlery.
To reach Pittsburgh just few miles away takes at least 45 minutes due to permanent traffic congestion in either way.

Got an email from ChoiceHotels (I'm a member of their frequent traveler club). Was headed to Cleveland and needed a place to stay enroute, This was the perfect stopping place time-wise, so I made a reservation for a King-bed room (my wife's request). When we arrived two days later (late at night), my wife checked in. When we got to the room, it was two doubles (NOT even Queens). We called the front desk and they said they had no king rooms left??!! So making the best of it, we unpacked and got ready for bed. The front desk then called and offered TWO other king rooms??!! So, why did they check in my wife and not tell her they were changing rooms on us? Why didn't they have a king room saved for our arrivel (NON-REFUNDABLE RESERVATION MADE TWO DAYS BEFORE?). Why didn't they know they had another, correct room available when we called the front desk??

I sent an email complaining and got back the response "We're sorry. We've talked to our front desk about this issue.". I sort of expected some sort of coupon or SOMETHING more than just an apology. But there you go. The room we got was actually OK. Was somewhat concerned that the side entrance door security system was broken and the door was propped open..

Room Tip: ASK when you check in to make sure you're getting what you reserved.
