We arrived by 11:00am on a Wednesday. There are two parking lots, so if the first one is full just go across the street to the "fish" lot and park there. Plenty of parking. Inside when you pay just tell them where you parked and they will give you a yellow parking coupon to get you out of the parking lot. the cost is $5.00 for non-members. There is so much to see and do, I felt overwhelmed! I didn't know where to take the kids first...so I asked the front staff, who were all very kind and wore big beautiful smiles :) She told me to take the kids to the art section first so they could create and the masterpieces would have time to dry before we were ready to leave. Wear old clothes to this museum, but they do have paint smocks to keep clean and sinks conviently located to wash up. We packed a lunch and ate outdoors in the Buhl community park out front of the museum, they were hosting a concert there so lucky us! there is also a mist fountain that goes off every 10 min and the kids LOVE IT! Bring a change of clothes and shoes if you are heading up to the 3rd floor water play section! this is a great room where kids can explore how water flows, play with ice, build a sprinkler, turn a huge water wheel and make it rain! They have a dryer station...but it won't dry you off enough if you get soaked,,,and a lot of the kids were soaked! There is plenty to do with the younger kids aswell. Plan for a full day here. this isn't just a one or two hour trip. This place will keep kids entertained for HOURS AND HOURS! We were there for 5 hours and still hadn't explored all there was to see. We will definitely be returning on a regular basis. Parents and children will have a great time! there is a restaurant on site, but we did not eat there.
