“Still under construction”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2008

This is just an update to let everyone know that Point State Park is still under construction. Although there are some beautiful spots along the river, the museum is still closed. Also, there are still unsightly fences and construction sites in the park. At one point during my visit, i wondered into a section that had no exit. So i ended up having to walk another 30 mins back to where i started. Signs would have been helpful, but i didnt see any. Luckily i was visiting a friend and took the bus downtown. This helped me to avoid the expensive parking.

“Don't Bother !! Until renovations are done”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2007

My husband and I tried to visit this park on 11/13/07. After paying $12.00 to park-near the park and the attendent asked how long and where we going to be-we said we wanted to visit the park and museum. We walk to the park through a tunnel under the Ft Pitt bridge and guess what?. The museum is not open Monday or Tuesday-the entire area, except for the fountain, was surrrounded by an 8-10 ft high hurricane fence with LARGE no trespassing signs. The only thing you can do is walk along the rivers-the fountain wasn't even on. You could not see the park from the road we were on so we didn't even see the fence. However, there is no way the parking attendant did not know the area was under construction as the temporary entrance is at one end of his small lot.

This was a major disappointment as we had driven several hours just to visit this park and other sites in Pittsburgh.

Not to mention the $12.00 for about 30 mins worth of parking.

If you use a wheelcair or walker this is not the place to go-no handicap parking and unven and rough terrain.

“Beautiful Views from the Point”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2006

The Point State Park is a lovely place to see in Pittsburgh. From the Point you can see some of the best views in Pittsburgh, while also enjoying the shade. It has riverside walkways and benches to sit on. The large fountain in the park was wonderful, except the people enjoying it the most were wading in it. The few downsides to the park is that the parking was expensive and it was difficult to get to the Park. We had to pay a flat fee of $12 just for parking. Getting there is very difficult if you are not familar with the roads. We kept trying to get to the Park and ended up on yet another bridge leading to the other side of Pittsburgh. Over all it was a lovely place to be once you actually manage to get there and the pay the parking fee.

“Wonderful Arrangement”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2004

The park was under renovation at the time, so we couldn't walk on the grass, but it offers nice views in all directions. You can see several bridges down all three rivers, as the park is at the point where they all meet near downtown. You can see several landmarks, such as the Carnegie Science Center, PNC Park, and Heinz Field, and the Fort Pitt Museum is an interesting history lesson of the area for only a couple of dollars. Parking was free on a sunday afternoon, but I'm not sure if it always is.
