“Hotel in the heart of Pittsburg”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2014

Lovely hotel in the heart of Pittsburg. A window view of the Pittsburg Pirates stadium. The staff are friendly and the hotel has a lot of character. Would definitely come back to stay. We stayed the first weekend in June and come across the annual Three Rivers Festival. Lots of music and vendors. Great time.

The Renaissance is in the best location for a Pirates game. Very nice hotel, super friendly staff, and clean updated nice sized rooms. $5.00 parking across the street so avoid the $50 valet parking at the hotel if possible. We left the car in the garage across the street overnight and was still $5.00. Recommend walking to Market Square a few blocks away after the game for food (Primanti Bros.) and drinks. The food at the hotel is kind pricey and there are many local alternatives close by. We had 3 in the room and they were able to hook us up with a roll away cot as well. Really nice hotel!

This hotel is located I'm the heart of the cultural district,
also right across the bridge from the stadium.
Staff was courteous and attentive and we enjoyed the lounge immensely.
Rooms were slightly small, but the bed was comfortable and the street noise was nill.
Would recommend staying here if you're in town for a game or just a fun weekend.

This hotel is directly across the Roberto Clemente bridge from the ballpark. The bridge is closed to car traffic on game days making it very convenient to walk both ways. It's very convenient and the hotel is very nice as you would expect from this chain. On the same street as the hotel entrance, there are many restaurants and bars many of which set up outdoor stations selling food and drink before the game as people walk across the bridge. This creates a party atmosphere and is fun.

The hotel bar is quite small and not very appealing to stay for long especially with a group.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the river and you can see into the ballpark. You'll also see the firewo...

For whatever reason, it proved difficult to secure a last minute downtown Piittsburgh hotel room during the Memorial Day weekend. After continuously checking online, we finally were able to book a room at the Renaissance. This is a nice hotel with a location that can't be beat. You can walk the streets of downtown Piittsburgh and easily take a short stroll across the nearby bridge that will take you right to PNC Park, the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Our room was clean and comfortable and reasonably priced, given the location and ambience of the hotel. You can park your car in a public garage right across the street. It was only $10.00 for 24 hours! The front desk staff was friendly and more that happy to help with questions and/or concerns. I would absolutely stay here on a future trip to Pittsburgh.

As a Mother's Day gift, I purchased tickets to a show at the Byham Theater and a night at the Pittsburgh Renaissance for my mother and her boyfriend. Although I live in New Orleans, I called and spoke with Pitt Ren's staff to make sure everything was covered for my mom's stay. After speaking with my mom about the show/stay, she couldn't believe how friendly and helpful the staff at the Pitt Ren. Not only that, she said her room was a corner view on the next to top floor and the bed was the best she had ever slept on in a hotel. Please note: my mom is a very hard woman to please (ha ha), but she only had the best things to say about the Pitt Ren. They even had their dinner at the bar in the hotel and loved that. Thanks to Pitt Ren's staff for helping me make this trip a home run for her...

Nice updated older historic hotel. Is in a great location downtown. We had a room on 7th floor with a view of river though did have to look to side out of window. Walking distance to a lot of good restaurants. Room was large and bathroom also very big with nice thick towels. Baseball park just a short walk across river. Don't forget to check out the Fred Rogers statue close to Heinz Field.
