After reading some of the reviews of this hotel from other TripAdvisor members I was a bit worried about making a two-night reservation here for our visit to Kennywood. Some of the previous reviews mentioned uncomfortable beds, unclean rooms and issues with water temperature. Fortunately, we experienced none of the above issues during our stay at the SpringHill Suites.

The hotel is currently undergoing an extensive renovation and we knew that before making our reservation. I think the renovations have helped to better some of the issues that previous reviewers have experienced. Rooms and hallways look to have new carpet, lamps and furnishings and the beds have been upgraded and are now very soft and comfortable. Of course there were little things here and there such as missing molding in hallways, a down-sized breakfast area and other tell-tale signs of the renovations taking place but none of them put a damper on our stay.

We really encountered no issues during our stay. Our two nights here were pleasant and staff at check-in, check-out and during complimentary breakfast hours were friendly and welcoming. If you find yourself in the West Mifflin area or are looking for a convenient hotel for your visit to Kennywood, you should definitely check out the SpringHill Suites.

We had stayed here once before and liked the room setup with its separate sitting area with couch and end tables and lamps for reading. We knew noise could be a problem so we asked for a room in the quieter part of the hotel away from the noisy intersection. That's when the problems began. When we arrived and opened the door to our room....it had not been cleaned or made up. They moved us to a room in the noisy section right near the intersection which is where two hills meet and you hear big trucks downshifting all night. Also, there was absolutely no hot water in the sink even after I let the water run for 20 minutes as suggested by the staff (if hotel is not full, there's a hot water problem). So bring an electric razor guys. (There is hot water in the showers.) Finally, they have installed machines to dispense coffee and juice that are terrible. If you like at least decent coffee in the morning, you'll have to go out for it. The OJ tastes like Tang. Won't be staying here again...too pricey for these kinds of problems.

We traveled on company business along with 11 others travelling for our company also who stayed in individual rooms. The bathroom was dirty and even had a leftover dirty wash-cloth on the floor. The toilet had mold and the tub had a lot of soap scum. We complained to the front desk and even after re-cleaning by the staff, it still was not very clean. Others in our group had similar results in their bathrooms.

The remainder of the room was very comfortable with 2 beds, a pull out couch sleeper and a mini kitchen. The continental breakfast was much more than advertised and was very good. The pool was indoor and very clean.

Me, my wife, and son (10 yrs. old) stayed at the hotel June 2-4, 2006 while attending a Pirates game & Kennywood amusement park. The room was clean & roomy, but not large. The bathroom was large. The front desk staff was very helpful with directions. PNC park & Kennywood are not too far away. We will stay there again.
