“Good place to learn Pittsburgh History”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Terrific history museum. Focus is on history in the area - sports and other. New exhibit on Underground Railroad is excellent. French and Indian War exhibit on top floor is lacking. If you like that part of history, visit Fort Pitt Museum (part of Heinz history museum) and the Blockhouse. Simply excellent, especially if you get a docent tour! Heinz and glass exhibits are well done. Kids will enjoy the scavenger hunt where you collect stamps and redeem for a pickle pin.

“Not to be missed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

To start, I think this place was great! It had just the right mix of educational and interactive exhibits. What I found most impressive is that the museum held my 14 year old sons attention the entire time. This place was really done well and has to rank in the top 3 places to see in Pittsburgh.
Admission is $12, there are 6 floors of exhibits and most exhibits highlight some connection to Pittsburgh or the region. Prior to visiting the museum, I had no idea that Pittsburgh was the birthplace of so many historical greats and ideas.
I visited on a Sunday morning/noon in late January and there was no crowd at all. We almost had the entire place to ourselves. We spent about 2-3 hours there and that's about what it takes to see the entire place at a leisurely pace. My son is 14 but I'm certain the museum can hold the interest of children of any age.
If you are in Pittsburgh, this is one attraction that is not to be missed.

“HUGE--Allow plenty of time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

The history center is incredible--it's huge and it's always changing. There is a lot to see and do--much of it is interactive. But please know, it will take a long time to get through if you really want to see and do everything. That said, allow a lot of time to see everything.
It's well done in a way that kids and adults can all appreciate the same exhibits equally.

“Wonderful way to spend a lazy afternoon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

The Heinz History Center is full of great information on the City of Pittsburgh, and especially it's sports teams. The Center is filled with great facts, and artifacts, from cars to hockey sticks to cleats and everything in between. This is the kind of place you could walk two or three times and never really see everything. If you have a a lazy, rainy day to kill in Pittsburgh, do it here.

“Great History”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

We went here to see the Sports Exhibit, it was wonderful! Alot of Pittsburgh sports history. And seeing the old streetcar was cool, too.
