Lots of restaurants, bars and shops. Brunch at Pamela's Diner cannot be beat. Great Italian markets. Homemade cheeses at Pennsylvania Macaroni Company.

“Great Fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

Visited on a beautiful Saturday before the Steelers home opener the following day. Lot's of stores, stocked up on presents for Christmas, had a great taco from the taco stand on the corner, got some spices and biscotti. WONDERFUL.

“Portland, OR, Pearl District in Pittsburgh”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

Bunch of shops / cafeterias, restaurants, and vendor stalls. Fun. Located in the former warehouse area. Duly noted: fairly authentic Italian cafe, very inexpensive farmers market with excellent choice of produce and an overall aura of festivity. Nice place to stroll and do nothing.

“Where Cultures Meet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

Trying to kill some time before heading to the airport, we decided to hang out at The Strip for an hour or two. It was not a weekend, so we did not get the full "experience". What we did get was a lovely afternoon of shopping in stores as diverse as any I have ever seen in such a small area. Every ethnicity was represented, and there was no end to the variety of food you could eat at outdoor food stands or curbside restaurants. The one negative thing I did notice, was a tendency for low-priced packaged food items to be "expired", and some of the produce which was wrapped in plastic looked old and not very appetizing. But we had a great time just poking around - and the quesadillas we bought from a street vendor were some of the best we have ever had (even though at $8.00 each they were quite pricey). This area is probably great fun on a weekend when all the activity is at its peak - but it is also a nice diversion on a week day when you really just want to walk around and enjoy a little atmosphere.

“Fun place to shop, eat, drink”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

We go here any time we visit Pittsburgh. Great selection of restaurants, bars, fresh produce, shops that have any kind of Steeler/Pirate/Penguin merchandise you could need, all on one street. Probably not great to take young children as it is quite busy, but a must to visit if you are a Pittsburgh fan and want the Pittsburgh experience.
