“a day trip in the city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2012

An entire day can be spent in the strip just meandering through all the shops. Stop for lunch, have a beer, and continue. Take your time and see it all.

“Best Neighborhood in Pittsburgh”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2012

Whether you live here or are an out of towner, the best neighborhood in Pittsburgh is The Strip District. An eclectic combination of eateries, shops and coffee bars, the Strip is quite during the week and packed on weekends. My favorite place is The Leaf and Bean, on 22nd and Penn. This little place is unique in everyday, starting with the fact that the Leaf stands for cigars, not tea, and you can sit on the barber chairs in the back and smoke your cigar in peace without some interfering busy body telling you to put out your stogie. The coffee is excellent, and if the owner, Jim the hippie, is in then you can listen to all the stories he has to tell about cigars and islands. I spent an hour just staring at the decoration, its like a museum mated with Key West in there.

For food, there are too many great choices. One of the best sushi and fish places is round the corner from the Leaf and Bean - Penn Avenue Fish Company. Pho Van has great Vietnamese food, and Pamela's diner is on 21st Street (the President eats there). Across from Pamela's you have Chicken Latino - the chicken is amazing but if you are there on a weekend ask for the slow roasted pork. And perhaps one of the best and most unique eaters is Enrico's - his bakery is on Penn, but the restaurant is behind and open only for lunch. Larry, the owner, is another great guy.

Strip District in Pittsburgh should exist in every city.

“Seeing is believing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2012

Not only do we have family that insist on being taken to the Strip every time they visit from out of town, WE love going there as well! Whether you're looking for some inexpensive and unique sportswear (not just Stillers, Pens & Pirates, either!), some Oriental teas and spices, homemade salsas & tortillas, imported meats & cheeses, fresh seafood or the best breakfast in the 'Burgh, there is something for you in the Strip. It would take multiple pages and a serious case of carpal tunnel for me to elaborate accurately on how awesome the Strip is, but just visit for yourself and you will see. Go early, though, especially on the weekends. Parking ain't easy or cheap, especially if you can't parallel park!

“FUN PLACE TO WALK AROUND AND FIND GOOD FOOD”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2012

Go to just look around at all the unique little shops but then go to one of the great little restaurants and be happy you did. There is always street vendors out. It is a nice way to spend time just having fun.
