“Rich in history and piety”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

A great spot for the pious, and those interested in history and art history. The tour guide gives an indepth presentation drawn from her expert knowledge and her personal experience as a native of Pittsburgh. The tour presentation is appropriate for an audience of teenagers and adults; our young children grew fidgety so we quietly crept out. The large wooden sculptures of each of the stations of the cross had an impact on our children and helped them to sympathize with Christ. The tour is free but donations are appreciated as the church is not supported by a parish, but only by fundraising. There is a modest gift shop with religious articles across the street next to the chapel parking.

“Amazing secret Holy Shrine of Christianity in our midst”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

Anyone interested in religion or Christianity is welcome to experience firsthand the awesome faith of early Christians who devoted their lives to promote Christian values and traditions, often in a harsh and unforgiving environment and even in the face of punishment by an excruciatingly painful death, who yet remained undaunted and whose fantastically interesting and varied life stories serve as true living examples of how all humans should exude humility, love, patience, and compassion in our own everyday lives.

And, best of all, it is right here in Pittsburgh!

If, for any reason (financial, time constraints or especially due to health related issues) you cannot make the trip to Vatican City in Rome, this is a must see alternative not to be missed.

It may even benefit you in some way as relics of Saints are often attributed to miraculous events, even in this our "modern" age.

“Surprise.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

The top of Troy Hill is a little world unto itself. This chapel is amazing. The relics and especially the way they are displayed was truly astounding. Even if this sort of exhibit is a bit out of your personal religious realm it is still worth doing.

“What a treasure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2012

What a treasure! The chapel is so gorgeous... there are thousands of relics in this chapel. Only the Vatican has more. Stations of the Cross are lifesize carved from wood from Germany. The pews are mahoghany. If you can go when they give free tours it is worth it to hear the history behind the chapel. Many miracles have happened here as well. What a blessing and a MUST SEE if you live in Pittsburgh or are visiting here.

“a bit spooky but well worth the trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

If you are into relics of saints and a bit of history, this is an amazaing place. It's covered with pieces of saint's body parts, which is kind of spooky, but this history that goes along with it and the faith those people had is wonderfully refreshing.
