“A few kinks, but would absolutely stay here again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2011

Great view of the city from our room. We asked for a higher floor, as suggested in a previous review. We didn't get one, but it was still great looking across to downtown. Also, there were fireworks @ PNC Park the first night we were there, most of which we could see from our room. When we checked into our room the room was so stuffy and stale. After calling downstairs, one of the staff members came up with air freshener and explained the problem. Because this is a "green" hotel, the key card that controls the lights also controls the a/c / air circulation. So, if you are checking in in the evening to a room that was vacated in the morning, no air has been moving in your room all day! An extra key card was provided that we just left in the slot going forward (which sort of defeats the purpose, but who wants to come back to a stuffy room every day?). Ty, sensing our frustration really went above and beyond to make things right, comping us drinks & appetizers downstairs while our room refreshed itself. He was so willing to help and friendly, including really chatting it up with our kids. The beds, pillows, etc were amazingly comfortable, the room itself was spacious and beautiful. Slightly later hours for the continental breakfast would be nice (only til 9 am on weekdays!) as well as extended availability of coffee. Overall a great location, good stay and we will be back!

My wife and children stayed here for two nights while attending a family wedding, we found the experience embarassing and uncomfortable for many reasons. Did you know that if you stay in Hyatt for more than one day you must re-register and get new keys each day?? We had to, it was confusing and unnecessary. We were told it was due to different rates being charged for the two nights??? The two night were complimentary due to my platinum status?? We were charged 18 dollars a night to park on the property and over billed 56 dollars to ad to the confusion. I asked to speak to the GM, was informed he was on vacation and that the Assistant GM was available, waited 20 minutes for him and left??? It was not the relaxing experience I expected from Hyatt and the other family members that also stayed at the Hyatt were not pleased, not at the premium rate they were charged. There are plenty of choices when it comes to accomodations in Pittsburgh, please do yourself and family a favor and find one not named HYATT.

Across 6th street bridge from city, not a bad walk at all. - wedged between baseball and football stadiums- upper Highway on right side of building .
Once inside was quiet.
Free Shuttle service to all downtown stops within a 3 mile radius was so helpful and we avoided driving and parking dilemmas[ this balanced out the $18 per night parking charge].
Crowded but not a problem- busy at breakfast - but staff was working all the time to keep coffee coming.
Just some small details need attention- like fingerprints on doors and elevators- dirt on bottom of toilet floor area. no shampoo in room. A"green" hotel-energy efficient Light bulb took a few minutes to brighten in bathroom. Need key to turn on AC and lights.
Staff polite, helpful.

It is very close to everything. Good restaurants, and the place is very clean. They take care of problems fast to ensure your stay is great. Stayed here 5 different times and one of the best hotels I have stayed in downtown Pittsburgh.

We stayed here for 4 nights on a family vacation. We loved the hotel's location and complimentary shuttle service within 3 miles of the hotel. We used the shuttle service every day (shuttle runs to 11 PM). The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was large - 2 queen beds and a pullout sleeper sofa. There was a refrigerator in the room too. Breakfast was great - cereal, fruit, bread/english muffins/bagels, mini doughnuts or muffins. Additional food was available to buy - looked good, but we didn't buy any. We didn't use the pool -it was small but looked nice nonetheless. The hotel is walking distance to the Science Center, Childrens Museum, Warhol Art Gallery, National Aviary, PNC Park, Heinz Field, etc.. There are a few restaurants near the hotel, but we didn't try any of them. We ate at restaurants downtown and Mount Washington and the shuttle picked us up shortly after we called. The only time we were unable to use the shuttle was when we went to Oakland and the Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History because that was over 3 miles from the hotel. We would definitely stay here on another trip to Pittsburgh.

this might be the cleanest hotel i've ever stayed at. only minor negatives are figuring out room climate controls and the breakfast could be a liitle better...too much like a cheap hotel included breakfast.

We had our "destination" wedding in Pittsburgh last weekend and reserved a block of 30 rooms for us, our wedding party and all of our guests. I could not have been more pleased with our selection. The sales team was extremely easy to work with, even for guests that didn't book by the deadline for our group rate.

We had arrived in town several hours before check-in and the staff gladly helped us unload our car and put everything into a small room behind the check-in desk so we could run and get another load from my grandparents a few hours away. When we returned they wouldn't let me help in loading a luggage cart with all the stuff we brought in before. The check-in process was very easy, they explained the green features of the hotel and any other important pieces of information we needed to know. We had made welcome bags for all of our guests, no one was missed.

During our stay everyone every staff member we came into contact with was friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. Always quick with a hello, how are you doing today, is there anything I can help you with? The shuttle drivers were great conversationalists and knew how to get around traffic when we hit it. We had reserved the hotel shuttle to take my grandparents over to PNC park for our rehearsal dinner. The shuttle was late coming back from another run, stuck in rush hour traffic, so the manager on duty took them over in his own car!

The breakfast was your typical hotel continental breakfast, it was just nice to have that option as we haven't stayed in a hotel yet in Pittsburgh that offers one. My brother and his girlfriend who are very health conscious ordered breakfast every morning through the galley, usually eggs and some other side. They really enjoyed their meals.

The parking rates are pretty standard for downtown, but the unlimited in and out privileges were really nice considering how many trips to the airport we made.

The rooms are huge, having a refrigerator was very nice for a week long stay. The morning of the wedding we had 10-12 people in our room at all times and never once did it feel crowded. The control panel for the TV was great for viewing the wedding photos and videos the next day.

I can't say enough nice things about every aspect of our stay. The rooms might have been a few dollars more than the surrounding hotels but it was worth every penny.
