“Lovely hotel, great people, great service; not-so-great food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

I stayed overnight at this hoels, which is fairly new I believe. As a long-term customer of the Fairmont chain, I find it to be head-and-shoulders above most American-owned chains. Their President's club is the only loyalty program of any substance, and they understand the benefits to the customer and the business of 'over-pleasing' people and over-compensating them when glitches happen. My room was large, comfortable and clean. My only disappointment was the food. When I ordered room service, the order arrived quickly but it did not taste so great. Hard to put my finger on any one thing: I just wasn't that good. Yet, the prices were very high. Also, the half bottle of standard quality California wine in the fridge cost $32, which is just ridiculous. A half bottle of the house wine was the same. Yet, 2 glasses of the same wine cost $16. Exoribitant prices for mediocre food and beverage do not for satisfaction make.

Room Tip: Saw so little of the place, I would be hard pressed to say. However, w/respect to other travellers...

I have stayed in this hotel, before, and every time I visit, I am never disappointed. The hotel is ultra modern. The rooms are spacious, luxurious and the bathroom is a sight to behold. The shower products are top notch. The gym/spa are first rate and the lounge in the lobby offers the best drinks with innovative snacks. Location is perfect and the views are spectacular. The staff at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful and the beds were heavenly. Best sleep I've had in ages. A little bit pricey; but, I would not consider staying anywhere else in Pittsburgh!

Like most Fairmont's, the hotel is a comfortable, well run hotel. The staff, even by Fairmont standards, is friendly and competent. The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms have separate showers and baths and river view rooms have a nice view. I strongly recommend the bar and lobby for jazz evenings. Some truly fine jazz is being played there.

The hotel is nicely located, just a block or so from the shops and restaurants on Market Square and is in the midst of the business center of downtown. The hotel doesn't have a pool or whirlpool bath but the exercise room is well equipped and the health club is superb with a great steam room and sauna..

The only trick to the Pittsburgh Fairmont is finding it if you are driving. The hotel is not well signed and the streets around the hotel are pretty confusing for an outsider. My advice, if you are driving up Sixth Street, look to your left as soon as you cross Liberty--that's the Fairmont. If you get to Market square, you've gone too far.

Room Tip: Go for a high floor with a river view.

We have stayed at many fairmont hotels in Canada and the US and this is by far one of the nicest we have stayed at. Our first surprise was how modern and fresh the hotel was. When we walked in the foyer there were many people sitting in the lounge listening to the live band which played on weekends. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and had both a separate bathtub and shower. We had breakfast in the restaurant and found the prices were very reasonable and they even had gluten free on the menu. The hotel is centrally located and we walked everywhere. Excellent. Will be back.

Room Tip: Remember when staying at Fairmont hotels to sign up for presidents club before you arrive and you wi...

Stayed here for a night for business and was really impressed with this hotel. Loved the lobby ambiance and was psyched when I got up to the room. Awesome floor to ceiling windows with great views of market square. Hotel is in a great location. Had fun listening to music after dinner at the hotel bar.

This was our special anniversary splurge that didn't cost an arm or a leg. The Deluxe room on the higher floors were an excellent upgrade and we had a great time using the binoculars that came with the room.

Room service was just as promised and boy, did they deliver. The front desk was also exceptional as they accommodated my request for more coffee and shampoo within 5 minutes.

Location-wise, this hotel was right in the middle of everything. It is less than a block from Market Square and also a block from Heinz Hall.

We will be coming back for our next anniversary!

*Note: next time, we might consider the upgrade to the largest hotel room in the city. They offered it to us and we didn't think we would need it... next time, we may take the offer!

Room Tip: Higher floors = great view of the city

I loved everything about this hotel, except that I didn't have more time to spend there. The lobby is a sight to see, complete with a fireplace as you walk in through the revolving doors--very welcoming on a cold day.

The large room was excellent, with a great bathroom as well. The fitness center was impressive. I wish I had had time for the spa. Breakfast was delicious in the restaurant.

I will be back!
