Wonderful experience beginning to end. Rangers were courteous and a very visible presence. Made me feel very secure and cared for.
Facilities are the best I've seen camping. Clean bathhouses with great hot water and water pressure. The only exception to this would be the handicapped shower stall. Someone needs to fix that shower. Water came out warm and VERY SLOW. Also I must comment that the camping beach bathroom needs some major TLC. Could we please be provided with some way to dry our hands, some new toilets, and perhaps someway to shower off the sand from our feet before trying to bike back to our camp site? Our campsite was beautiful and spacious but I did see a few that were a bit tiny so be careful when booking a site. A special word of warning, the last day my family was there and packing up I am pretty sure I could have gotten a contact high from the next campsite and all the MARIJUANA THEY WERE SMOKING! Pretty sure these people are regulars because the rangers walking by we're saying hi and calling these people by name. I like to think that the rangers are unaware and it's not they are aware and tolerating it because they are friends with these campers. I know this is a strong accusation but I know what I saw and definitely smelled and it wasn't rolled up burning leaves! Anyway, back to the campsites, if you have small children please think twice before booking a site along the main campground road. There was ALOT OF TRAFFIC and I felt unsafe when biking along there. I would have been terrified if I had to try and keep a small child from wandering out into the street. When biking along there, someone must of had an accident because my son, niece, and myself nearly rode our bikes through a pool of blood on the road! (I am a trauma nurse so I know blood when I see it) Later, when we were riding our bikes back to our campsite, the park rangers were spraying the area to clean it up. It only confirmed my concern for safety along that road was valid. The other " loops" of the camp ground were less busy but Saturday evening was nuts! Also the speed limit in camp is 15 mph so perhaps the boys on the ATV's selling firewood could slow it down a bit please! So back to the beach, it is adequate but a bit small for such a large camp facility. I was glad the weather was a bit mild for August otherwise the beach could have been quite crowded. The camp store is a great amenity with reasonably priced items and yummy icecream ! The "Little Tykes Bike" area is not for little ones. It is a great BMX trail for Tweens and teens and that's it. By the way the PARK RANGERS NEED TO PATROL THE TYKE BIKE AREA. Lets just say I know kids will be kids but there were quite a few teenage gangs hanging out there and it was very intimidating for a 10-13 year old. I am in my 30's and was uncomfortable with what I had seen and heard there. Overall a very positive experience and would definitely return there. I would have liked a way to make my suggestions anonymously, perhaps suggestion boxes located outside the restrooms?
