The good: The outdoor area is a beautiful setting for an outdoor dining experience. It was quiet and pleasant. We had to strategically place ourselves a little to ensure we didn't have the sun in our eyes but once the sun went down it was great! And not too buggy. The brie and honey tartin was excellent, and gave us great hope on what lie ahead for out entree. I ordered the pasta special, which included chorizo, sauteed shrimp and tomato. It was great. I would certainly eat it again.
The bad: my wife ordered the grilled filet special, cooked medium, that came in a red wine sauce with potatoes and string beans. The sauce tasted like absolutely nothing other than a bland gravy, and the steak was definitely cooked beyond medium, close to well/very well. This place does not put salt/pepper on the table, but the dish needed something to actually give it a taste other than the char from the grill. If you're going to charge that kind of money for a steak dish, it should have decent flavor and should be cooked properly. With dessert, I ordered coffee. Even though it was hot outside, I drink my coffee hot. If I don't, I ask for iced coffee. The coffee served me, for $3, was cold. By the time someone was visible for me to flag down to request a hot cup of coffee, our desserts were finished (mostly because we had to eat the sorbet before it melted. They were quite good as well). It's disappointing that I couldn't enjoy my coffee with my dessert.
Overall, the rating averages out to average. It's frustrating because I really enjoyed my meal, but am disappointed that my wife did not enjoy hers. And again when we paid as much as we did for a full meal (including drinks) for two, it should have been a better experience. It would take some convincing to return here any time soon.
