Let me begin by saying that my family has stayed at the Glosser Inn for many years, but it has recently changed ownership and after our stay this weekend, we will never stay there again. We checked into the hotel at approximately 10:30 in the morning and the owners took our credit card up front, but did not give us a room key, presumably because the room was not ready. We asked for a cot since we had three small children with us and were told that there were none available at the time, but we should ask for one when we arrived. We arrived back late at approximately 10:45 at night after a day at Knoebels, our two year old was asleep on my shoulder and our six and nine year olds were not far from falling asleep themselves. There was no one at the service desk, and despite ringing the bell several times, no one came to assist us until my husband walked to the bar attached to the hotel and the kind barkeeper there came to find the owners. The man who came to help us had no idea what he was doing. He told us there was no key for our room and asked over and over why we did not have a key. My husband showed the man the receipt with a time stamp and room number on it that he had received in the morning. The man walked around in circles for no apparent reason, continuously talking about how there was no key for that room. Presumably, they had given our room away. We asked if there were other rooms available and if we could please have the key to another room. After having spent 20 minutes in the lobby with this nonsense, we were finally given a key to a different room.
On our way up to the room, we ran into the owner who had checked us in that morning and his wife. He recognized my husband and asked if we needed a cot. My husband explained that we did need a cot, but that we were in a different room now because of the error. The owner then took the room key out of my husband's hand and told us we would have to wait until he checked on it. Meanwhile, I was carrying a sleeping two year old on my shoulder. My husband told him we would not wait anymore, that we had already waited for 20 minutes and had not received prompt service as it was, explaining what had gone on in the lobby. The owner then told my husband that we could find another room for the night. My husband took the hotel key back and refused. I wish there had been another hotel in the area we could have gone to, because the last thing I wanted was to spend a night in a place that would have turned us out with three children under the age of 9 at 11:00 at night!
To add insult to injury, the other reviews are true. I don't know about the bed bugs, but the mattresses are stained, there was rust in the tub, there was water damage on the walls of the bathroom, the sink and tub didn't drain properly and the toilet didn't flush correctly. The owners of this place do not value their customers,so long as they get their money and I refuse to ever set foot there again. In the morning when my aunt, who also stayed at the motel, confronted the wife of the owner about what had happened, the woman's response was that my husband had been rude, and that was why they were going to make us leave.
Do not stay here. Spend the extra money, drive the few minutes extra and find a better place. I am not a picky person when it comes to hotels (as I said, I have stayed in this place many, many times), but people who would turn out a family late at night are not people who deserve your patronage.
