We did not stay at the B&B here. This review is based on the Farmland Fun Farmer's Apprentice experience I purchased tickets for .
This was our last day of our vacation (my 14 year old son and I). We wanted to do the Farmland Fun Farmer's Apprentice, so I called Verdant View the day before to make sure the activities were not just for B&B guests, but were also available to the visiting public(see the list of advertised activities here): http://www.farmlandfun.com/tours#apprentice
I was told by the man on the phone that all activities for Farmer's Apprentice were open to everyone, not just guests of the B&B, and he told me where to go online to purchase the Farmer's Apprentice tickets. I even told him what time (2:30 time slot) we were going to chose. The 2:30 time slot is slated only for the Farmer's Apprentice activities, per Farmland Fun's web site and ticket purchasing site. I bought two tickets for $15 each.
We arrived at 2:15PM and waited by our car. After a few minutes, we were whisked away to what I thought was the Apprentice activities. Nope. All we got out of it was a barn tour where we had to walk through a walkway covered in cow poop, which got all over our shoes, and a wagon ride (up the hill, down the hill). Not one activity from the Apprentice list was given to us to do. I mentioned this twice to our guide as he took us around, and he seemed to partially ignore me...only bringing up that we "might" get to see a milking if we stuck around long enough. He was too busy staring at my bosom which became so ridiculously obvious that we walked away and went to the main house to complain.
We were met by a woman who I spoke with and told her we bought tickets for the 2:30 Farmer's Apprentice activities and were not given what we paid for. She said she had just finished up a cheese making activity (which was one of the activities we wanted to do), but she said she didn't invite us to join in because there was no room for us to take part! I asked her then, why did you advertise that this was available when it was not?
No other activities were offered to us: bottle feeding a calf, collecting eggs, leading a goat, making butter, ice cream, or cheese, welding initials on a metal plate, making preserves...nothing. Just to add...it was a beautiful sunny day, so weather was not a factor.
I had given my CC number the day before when I bought our farmer's Apprentice tickets online, and she ensured me I would not be charged the $15 each. To their credit, they charged me $8 each, which was the price of their barn tour and wagon ride.
The sad part was, this was our last day of vacation and we skipped a few other fun attractions just to be able to have the Farmer's Apprentice experience. We lost out on doing something else and our time was wasted here.
Very unfair and deceptive promises for farmland Fun on their web site. Matt also needs to stop staring at female guests' breasts.
The whole thing was hugely disappointing.

This customer's claims are unfounded. The customer was late in arrival so they were assumed to be a regular tour visitor. For accurate reviews that reflect our excellent reputation and service, please be sure to go to "Verdant View Farm Bed and Breakfast" in the Trip .Advisor Search Engine. This page reflects the great reviews that include both overnight guests AND Farmland fun tour guests. Thank you!
