We have been to SRL many times over the last few years. We can also compare it to many other clothing optional resorts.
The resort is situated in the foothills of the Poconos, a very nice setting but you better be prepared to trek up some pretty steep hills unless you stay in the meadow or pool/club area rooms. We once stayed in one of the rooms (mountainview I think) in the upper part of the resort, we only did so because a dangerous thunderstorm drove us out of our tent. It was a reasonable cost but it was also a Thursday, the weekend costs are unreasonable, being $250+ on holiday weekends for rooms that are not near worth that price (location, location, location).
The clientele is much that of any other resort, the middle of the bell curve is age 50+, although the proximity to New York often brings out younger people especially on holiday weekends. There is definitely a swinger element to the resort, to be fair most resorts (even the "family" ones) have one as well, although most are much, much quieter about it than SRL. We have been propositioned more than a few times, but a simple no thank you is as far as it went and we have never had an issue. Management is very good about taking care of anyone that's disturbing other guests.
The resort has recently undergone some "Caliente Tampa/Caribe" inspired renovations. A few years ago a new bar was put in which serves slightly overpriced but delicious drinks. About the time the bar was completed a conversation pool was added next to it. The convo pool is nice but if it looks cloudy or doesn't smell quite right, pass it up for the hot tub. The restaurant and club are the most recent renovations. Luckily, the renovation also included the chef. The high prices for food now match the quality served. The club now has an even more, well for lack of a better term, club feel, with white everything and neon lights. Few are ever nude at the club (and those that are make it kind of awkward) so if you're looking for a purely nudist experience then just go to bed early.
The pool is a little bit small but nice. Pool volleyball is played most days from 1000-1200. Feel free to join in, the usual players are very welcoming. The hot tub is located in the clubhouse and can easily fit 10-12 people.
If you decide to camp and aren't interested in hearing loud noises in the middle of the night then make sure you pitch your tent by the tennis courts. The normal camping area tends to be very rowdy. Once the club closes the party moves up there including sometimes loud music and campfires. The party usually continues once couples retire to their tents as well.
SRL is certainly a little overpriced but brings a fun and welcoming atmosphere that anyone from a devoted nudist to a pure hedonist can have fun in. That's why we keep coming back.
