“Good hotel, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2010

Having read some bad reviews of this hotel, we were pleasantly surprised. Our room had a beautiful river view, overlooking parkland. The price was possibly higher than warranted, but I could not fault the room--large, clean, with comfortable beds and furnishing. The bathroom was equipped with excellent bars fto assist the disabled in the bath, though the one by the toilet was unstable and possibly dangerous if needed for full support. Dinner and service in the restaurant were outstanding, and continental breakfast very good, with good choice, including waffles. Whatever we requested--extra pillows, towels, etc., we received willingly. There is obviously an upgrade going on, but disturbance minimal and result good. As a disabled visitor, I found the sets of double doors, with no automatic openers, very difficult, even though I had someone with me. The owner was not helpful in this regard, although he was usually sitting at the desk; he appeared oblivious to our plight. A wheelchair traveller on his own could not manage in the hotel as it is. All in all, I would recommend this hotel as a good experience. The owners are obviously determined to improve and upgrade. Well done.

It is very sad that in such a beautiful city we had to have such a poor experience. I will never stay there again and make sure that anyone I know will not stay there. They were very rude to my family and I! We felt like we were not welcome. We also had other family in other rooms and they got the same response from them. We ended up leaving our vacation early because we didn’t want to stay there any longer. I thought the rooms were dirty, but they didn’t smell. We had a prob. with our shower so had to go to our other families room to take one. In an economy like this any hotel should welcome their guests with smiling faces and good service. Not only for their business but to help out their community. Hopefully if we decide to visit this beautiful city again we can find a better hotel that is happy to have us, but for now I think I will be looking other places.

The Arlington has a lot of history and is the only hotel in Oil City. Although renovations have been done, there are still some outdated and unfinished parts of the hotel. However, the price is right and the rooms are clean and spacious. The room extras (shampoo etc.) are a bit on the cheap side but not a big deal, but they do offer free high speed internet.

The staff was welcoming and helpful. We negotiated the price down from $85 to $60 - ie down to the internet rate (March 2009). The room was stuffy and smelled as if as the windows hadn't been opened for months. Well, actually there weren't any windows... Not a good place for anyone with a tendency to allergies or asthma. On the other hand, it didn't seem dirty. Just stuffy. The free continental breakfast might as well not have been offered - the usual super-sweet cereals, thin coffee - and that's about it. If I was to go again, I'd stay at a regular motel. Same price, probably better smell.

This hotel needs major help......I dont think it has been remodeled in 25 or 30 years. There are only two towels and two pillows, people usually need at least two more of both. I would not recommend this to anyone. It is the second worse hotel Ive ever been at in my 50 years. Management should be ashamed to have people stay in these rooms, my guess is that it is run by cheap foriegners, they never want to spend money to update a place.

Nice hotel upon entrance and exit but the inside of the hotel room was average nothing as big as we expected but still nice and clean all that we wanted. Also managment were nice and got me into my hotel room quick. The value of the hotel in which we paid for was good and possibly another stay next year around.

We stayed an entrie day in the small but up and comming town of oil city. a town that is on the edge of vision making it a haven for the art community.
A wonderful art center, soon to come art studio lofts, a great coffee shop and a museum.
The Arlington we stayed in the hot tub suite wonderful sunlit room with great views of the mountains and river.
Room was clean with more than enought linnen, customer service was great form the owner checking us in till the time we checked out.
A very delightful italian dinner in the hotel resturant, with attentaive wait staff.
TREAT YOURSELF TO THE ARLINGTON FOR A WEEK-END!
