“Wonderful experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2011

The restaurant is cozy and quaint, it is over 300 years old and is next to the river. Upon entering, you feel like you have stepped into someone's wonderful country home. The service is gracious, our server, Denise, literally kept the home fires burning. The fireplace is cozy and warm. Ask for a table by the fireplace during winter months.

The food was excellent, everything was prepared to perfection. The oyster appetizer was presented perfectly on a bed of rock salt, not a piece of shell in any oyster. The sweet breads were a rare treat. The whole lobster was steamed perfectly. It was sweet and delectable.

The prices were good for the amount and quality of food you get. This is my third visit to the restaurant and I will definitely visit again.

There is no handicap access to the restaurant. We ate there and did not stay there.

Food arrived not done..cold, tasteless...should I go on..okay I will! The restaurant smelled musty....not a good choice for an anniversary meal.,,or any meal for that matter! My wife ordered the rack of lamb that was supposed to be done "WELL"..it arrived pink even though the chef said it was cooked through...Uh,I don't think so! So when it was sent back for more thorough cooking it returned a different shade of "Pink"...I ordered the "Red Snapper"..cold...one bite...something funky about the taste. The waitress was great and apologized...even though it had nothing to do with her! Too add insult to injury the manager said that it must have been an "OFF"night and presented us with a $25.00 gift certificate to the restaurant???? We paid the full price for one of the most dissapointing meals we had ever had...the $25.00 gift certificate remained with the paid bill! Do yourself a favor...pass this one up!

Room Tip: Don't stay here!

We stayed in the Inn for two nights. First of all there is no common room such as library or sitting room to read a book or relax after sightseeing. The Inn is old and smells musty and dusty. The restaurant is a joke. They have lobster night on evening a week. There were no takers when we were there and I wonder what they did with the lobsters on hand. The food was presented nicely, but was tasteless. The sides came cold as well as the dishes not warmed. On our last day we were inundated with stink bugs in the room as well as in the breakfast room. There are so many gaps in the windows and doors I don't know how they will prevent or even stem the stink bug problem. Why anybody would have their wedding or special even there, is baffling at best. There are nicer places if you do your research. Our stay was short and we were happy to depart after shaking out every piece of luggage and bags we carried. Only thing we didn't find were bedbugs but beware!

We stayed on the third floor of the Centre Bridge Inn and were impressed with the view of the bridge we could see from the bed. We enjoyed walking across the bridge during the day and enjoying New Hope at night.
Our suite was very spacious and we were just a hop, skip and a jump from downtown New Hope. Dinner downstairs was delicious and for those who feel a little cramped in a traditional bed and breakfast, I describe this as a B&B with elbow room and privacy.

When we arrived, the innkeeper Tina greeted us in the parking lot and settled us into our room immediately although it was an early check-in. We stayed in the Redfield Suite which had a sitting room, separate bathroom-dressing room (a bit short on bathroom amenities) and opened to a beautiful balcony area. There was wi-fi in the room. Unfortunately due to the unusually hot weather, we couldn't sit on the balcony or in the sitting room, which was not air-conditioned. But the A/C in the room did an adequate job of keeping us cool. It also blocked out any noise from traffic. We appreciated the furnishings and ambience of the public areas of the Inn, and found it charming.

Our Living Social voucher included dinner credit, and this was the best part of our stay: in the dining room, Barbara Trent sang and played keyboard, all the old standards. She took requests and we even danced and generally had a terrific time! She was wonderful, a local gem.

The continental breakfast was fine, coffee, tea, juices, yogurt and fresh fruit, cereals hard boiled eggs, bagels and butter, cream cheese, jams, homemade muffins and some apple pastry etc. Tina gave us information and brochures about activities and resources in the area and went out of her way to be helpful. We were unable to get cell-phone service in the area so she let us use her cell phone. She and her husband and their assistant (Melissa ?) were excellent hosts. I would love to visit the area when we could enjoy the balcony and outdoor dining, or even in the winter when the fireplaces would be lit.

We made our reservations through Living Social website. The Inn is 300 years old, very quaint and our room was adequate...could use a bit of TLC. With the "deal" we received a $50 voucher toward dinner for our first night. Restaurant expensive and everything was a la carte. They have monthly international menus and this month was Greek. The surprise was the breakfast Saturday morning...a standard "continental breakfast" that we have had at a Best Western, or such. On Sunday there was a better choice but you were given $5 to put toward whatever you ordered on menu or just take the continental breakfast which would be brought to your table. The location is lovely...right on the river with a view from your room. Parking was fine during day but because of events in evenings you needed to use their valet parking. We thought that paying guests should have separate parking area. Also most B&B's we stay at offer some refreshments during the latter part of the afternoon. Only coffee or tea were provided.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with river view...maybe all have.

Me and my family vacationed at the Centre Bridge Inn making it our cental location for traveling to D.C., New York city, Phili, ect. Coming back home not only did we tell of our travels but our stay at the Inn as well. It was wonderful, very friendly staff, great food, spacious rooms with great decor. The most memorable was the scenic view from and all around the Inn and the Deleware river.
