We have been to the Italian restaurant at Mt. Airy and it was exceptional, so we tried Red Steakhouse last night. The steaks were excellent. Prime meat and perfectly grilled. The Caesar salad was also very good. They had a special appetizer (or served a side). Billed as endive wrapped in speck ham with blue cheese. Sounded great but was not properly cooked. The endive were a chore cut through even with a steak knife, and they were quite bitter. I think if they first par boiled or cooked the endive more it would have been better. The lone pasta dish also sounded great, pappardelle with morrel mushrooms and ham and asparagus. The morrels were chewy and gritty. I don't think they were properly reconstituted with liquid, and certainly weren't cleaned properly. The pasta was caked together and there was practically no sauce in the bowl. The wine list is not that large, and as would be expected heavy with california reds. The wine is definitley not stored at the proper temperature, as our Oregon pinot noir had to be 75 to 80 degrees, That's unacceptable at their high wine prices.
There aren't many restaurants choices in this area for a great meal, so if you stick with salad and steak you can't go wrong here, but check the temperature of the bottle of wine with your hand on the bottle prior to them opening it.
