“Unique Eatery with Delicious Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2011

Our family was visiting a Bed & Breakfast In Mt. Joy and decided to try Alois's for my birthday dinner. We have two children (ages 13 and 10) and wasn't sure if a brewery atmosphere would be "rowdy" or inappropriate". It was not at all-in fact, it was actually very family friendly. We sat in a dining area that had lights strung randomly and a little pot belly stove in the corner-there were bottles displayed that once held different spirits-it was very unique and ecclectic. Our waiter was attentive and pleasant, and after we gave our food order, a pirate came over to our table and asked how the "wee people got in"! He came up from a private party in the Catacombs and sat at our table when he saw us and had the kids laughing and joking. Once the pirate left, our food came, and it was delicious!! I had a combo platter of cajun seasoned steak, shrimp and chicken w/ grilled squash, our son had wings - he's a picky eater and really liked them, our daughter had a sandwich which she enjoyed so much that she boxed the leftovers to go, and my husband also had a sandwich that he raved about. The menu is varied and all of our selections were cooked to our satisfaction-we all agreed our food was delicious.

After dinner we walked around and saw some of the brewery which was interesting, and as I previously mentioned, the downstairs restaurant the Catacombs was closed because of a private Pirate party, but we walked down to get a peek-looked like a really nice place. I wish we had an opportunity to eat there-maybe next time because we all really liked this place. In fact, the kids asked to go back there to eat!

If we ever venture into the Mt. Joy area again, we will definately make a stop at Bube's Brewery and the restaurants in there.

“Excellent experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2011

A colleague and I were referred to this place on a business trip to Lancaster. Upon arriving at the location and walking inside it was very clear this was not a place for all personality types. The type of person who truly appreciates a place such as this is adventerous in nature and appreciates a place that is brimming with history and original character. The tour was short but succinct. The staff was courteous, and extremely personable. Our host was Ian, our cocktail server was Karen, and our primary server was Natalie, whom took very good care of us and was quite knowledgeable about the beer, food, and unique entertainment features of the establishment. The beer was very pleasing (tried the sampler platter first, and then had a pint). The food was very good in my opinion, the chicken was well cooked and not dried out. The mozzarella puffs are definitely worth trying along with the sausage pastries. I would highly reccomend this place, but be prepared to spend a couple of hours as the pace is nice and relaxed. If you want a quick snack and beer, go elsewhere.

“Good food and drinks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2010

Alois's At Bube's Brewery is a good place for having traditional american food and beer. We had a baconcheeseburger with onion rings and a classic steak salad which was rather good. Meal size was also ok. In the menu you can find a great selection of beer from all over the world that makes the restaurant a great authentic diner option in Lancaster county.

“Fabulous Food, Strange Experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2006

We dined at Alois for an anniversary dinner in July 2004. It was definitely a unique experience! Alois is one of three restaurants on the premesis and it is considered the "upscale" restaurant of the three. Drinks and our first course were served in a victorian "men's parlor", with paintings of victorian...um, ladies...on the walls. We were moved to another room for the remainder of our dinner. There were no other diners in our room, although there were some couples in different rooms of the restaurant. It was an odd experience. The room had a victorian feel from the wallpaper, antique furnishings and light fixtures, but the experience reminded me of what it might feel like to dine in Disney's "Haunted Mansion". It was all a little strange. That being said, the food was FABULOUS! We thoroughly enjoyed every course, and my husband still talks about their home-brewed beer. We would go back for the food alone, if not for the atmosphere. Aftewards, one of the staff took us around the brewery, which was interesting. We saw the other restaurant, the Catacombs, which appeared to be very popular, as was the third restaurant, a bar. The staff was very friendly, the food was great and the atmosphere was strange.
