“Lovely escape”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

We loved this place. Yes, the room was small, but it was so comfortable and such a soothing atmosphere that it did not matter. Wonderful bed and bath, great color scheme, nice fabrics. And a million nice touches, starting with Christina greeting us with great cheer and a glass of wine. She was so welcoming and so helpful that her greeting got us in just the right frame of mind. We had a wonderful dinner at Bar Louis with a waitress named Sarah who was fantastic. Really good cocktails, wonderful food and beautiful and intriguing artwork. We couldn't wait to go back again (for the food and cocktails AND the Hilton Bros horse/flower prints --what a treat!) and we were not disappointed. Everyone who we encountered in bar Louis seemed to be enjoying his/her job, as did everyone we encountered throughout the hotel. That was so nice. Breakfast day one we ignored the continental breakfast that came with the room. We had a fabulous meal, but day 2, we went for the free breakfast and it was fantastic--the most delicious home made yogurt and lemon curd and baked goods.. Wow what a treat. When we checked out, we were handed water and snacks for the road. When we asked what to do in Milford, we got a million enthusiastic suggestions. The only disappointment was that spa bedea was 100% booked--we should have planned ahead. Some have mentioned noise and room temp--it was super hot this weekend, and our room was not as cool as we're used to. Christina gave us a fan. Worked like a charm. Yes, the street at night was noisy, and the person above us never walked when s/he could stomp, but the fan served dual purpose of masking nose. Other nice details: great shower, lots of hot water, Kiehl's toiletries (nice touch), espresso maker and bottled water in room, and a magnifying mirror for putting on makeup (always endears a place to me when they acknledge the limitations of over-50 eyes). I've gone on--short version: the only thing that would have made this better would have been a longer stay. What a nice place and a nice bunch of people!

Room Tip: If a small room bothers you, book one of the bigger rooms; if you're a light sleeper, then ask f...

A delightful place to escape for a day or two. The rooms are nicely done in simple, good taste. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Breakfast on the porch (in season) is a great way to start the day.

A beautiful hotel with exceptional service. From the moment we arrived (and offered complimentary glasses of wine!) everything was first rate. The manager sat with us for iver 30 minutes assisting us with maps and local hiking trails. Fireworks display info was also provided for the 4th Cute town perfect for browsing. Every detail in the room including the soaps etc were first class. Great continental breakfast on the porch was lovely. Dinner at Bar Louis good with a fun atmosphere (wpuld have liked to see more vegetarian options there). Overall perfect getaway for the 4th of July!

What a beautiful and relaxed, charming and luxurious stay! From the moment we arrived, everyone used every opportunity to anticipate our every need. The room was beautiful, the restaurant (Bar Louis) was excellent, and the service was friendly and attentive. We can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Room 8 overlooks the town on the second floor. Large and luxurious.

The service, the food, the accomodations are superb. The general manager Isabel and the staff are treasures, We would highly reccomend the hotel for anyone who is looking for a low key luxurious wekeend. And the bar Louis is great for good food and a lovely surrounding.

My husband and I just returned from a great weekend at the Hotel Fauchere. Each and every aspect of our stay was wonderful.

The staff was extremely attentive to our needs. Everyone was friendly and seemed proud to be representing the hotel.

Although, small, our room was extremely comfortable. when the a/c didn't seem to get cool enough, the maintenance staff was more than happy to bring us a fan, which was great. my only comment was that the room could have used artwork; not one picture on the white walls. the bed was super comfy and the bathroom well equipped.

our contintental breakfast was enjoyed on the front porch both mornings. so delightful. the homemade yogurt and granola are amazing. the muffins and scones delicious. we did order an ala carte item on sunday; the crab benedict, which was fabulous.

all in all, a marvelous place to stay.

My husband and I had driven by many times and loved the charming look of the Hotel; this was our first stay and it was a delight. We travel frequently and I don't think we've ever experienced a more accomodating and friendly staff - from the minute we arrived (and were handed glasses of wine) until service at breakfast in the morning (where we were handed water for the road). The room was small but so comfortable and thoughtfully appointed - not stuffy as you might expect from a historic property but crisp and clean while still retaining character. The food at dinner and breakfast was another welcome surprise. The cuisine was imaginitive, fresh and absolutely delicious. We will be back and we highly recommend the Hotel.

Room Tip: Room 3 in the back with a balcony was lovely.
