“Nice!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

We stayed here two nights for a wedding reception. The accommodations were all we could have asked for: clean and comfortable room, nice ammenities, country atmosphere, and a great wedding facility. The breakfast was more than adequate with a wide selection hot and cold offerings in food and beverage. The business area allowed me to print travel info although one computer was being persnickety and not cooperating. The lobby was very inviting. Overall, I felt very much at home here.

Room Tip: The rooms are in two separate buildings...the main building with the lobby and the "annex"...

The Inn is a delight! The location, right in the middle of the Brandywine Valley, makes it easy to get to anyplace you want. The rooms were clean. The staff was professional and most helpful.
The breakfast was complete. You couldn't ask for much more. The on-site restaurant also had very good food at a reasonable price. If you plan on coming up or down this way, this is a great place to stay.

Room Tip: I like the rooms in the main building as opposed to the ones on the restaurant side that overlook a...

Mendenhall Inn is idyllic, serene, and beautiful.
In Brandywine with a multitude of museums, gardens, antique stores, and restaurants.
Stepping back to the colonial times.
Known for having wedding receptions but would stay for the peace and beauty of windy roads, majestic trees, gardens, and chirping birds.
Great for a weekend get away - 50 minutes from Philly.
After a few nights, am very rested and refreshed.

Stayed one night for a wedding.
Very nice staff, room and food. Nice setting off of a country road near Longwood Gardens. Grand Ballroom was very well appointed, and the food was good, as was the wait staff. An all-around enjoyable stay

This is an older hotel that is in the Brandywine Valley close to many attractions. It is VERY clean, quiet (was built soundly) and the housekeeping staff very friendly. The front desk staff however during the week in the evenings needs lessons in hospitality. Breakfast the usual for a chain hotel but adequate. They're having trouble with their internet and it often loses signal in the evening. Their "business center" is a joke with 2 machines running Windows XP that have great difficulty connecting to the internet and if you're thinking about printing off your boarding pass forget it.

The Inn is part of the Choice Hotel chain, part of the "Ascend" group, which suggests a step up. It really isn't--it's not an inn, it's a chain motel. Nothing wrong with that--it's perfectly OK as such. The room is small, but the furnishings are a bit upscale in a Chippendale mode, perhaps to fit with nearby Winterthur. The room was clean and comfortable, pretty much standard fr Choice properties. Service was pleasant and welcoming. Breakfast was also the standard choice breakfast, a bit skimpy that day on bread choices, and they had these weird pre-made egg disks instead of actual scrambled eggs. The breakfast room is quite a bit larger and nicer than the usual.I noticed some reviews complained it was noisy and the walls were thin--these may be weekend visitors, since the Inn heavily promotes itself as a wedding reception venue (I almost felt guilty that I wasn't planning some event), and if the place is full of wedding guests, it could be loud. There were plenty of people staying when I was there on a weekday, but I didn't hear a thing. Only complaint--parking is out back, a bit of a hike, and no handicap spaces available--and I'm handicapped. Best feature: it's a reasonably priced option near Longwood Gardens and Winterthur, and not far from good restaurants,

Room Tip: Quieter on a typical night higher up and on the parking lot side.

This was a lovely hotel and very nice rooms. We had a king size bed room. The room had a small refrigerator and a microwave in the room. The bed was very comfortable and very clean. Hotel staff was very pleasant. They have a breakfast buffet included in the price. Nothing great here in that department. The basic cereal, bagel, toast, scambled eggs thing. You help yourself kind of buffet comparable to most hotel chains that are 3 star.
