“Wonderful Place & Gracious Innkeeper”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

My siblings and I came to Pennsylvania for my sister's birthday. We stayed at the Orris House Inn. It is a grand place to stay, very Victorian, but with the modern conveniences. The ambience is wonderful and conducive to conversation. The Innkeeper, Kevin Jackson, keeps the inn clean, tidy, and well stocked. He made some of the best breakfasts I ever had.

Innkeeper Kevin is the perfect host. He took our beverage requests by email before we arrived, cooked breakfast to order, helped my husband make an ice pack for his bicycle wreck bruises, and sent us home with a care package of scones and bottled water! the house is sumptuous, with more common rooms than I have ever seen at a bnb; parlor (lounge),library, study, hall, dining room, kitchen, sunroom ( conservatory) and music room (ballroom). if you get my drift here, this house could be the Clue house if it had a billiard room - and there's space for one in the back of the parlor, remove those tables, I say go for it, get the endorsement! the suites also look lovely, as does the garden.

We stayed at the Orris House July4-7.

First of all, if you are looking for an inexpensive room to sleep, then go to one of the local hotels in the area. However, if you are willing to pay a little more and looking for an "experience" then you need to stay here.

The house is like walking back into time. You can spend hours looking at the antique furnishings, the artistry of the house (tall ceilings, pocket doors, turrent windows) and the gardens. Staying here you will experience how life was 100 years ago. We stayed in the Blue room which was large and furnished to the period with a modern bathroom.

And your host, Kevin, will feel like your friend rather than an innkeeper. Fresh fruit cup with a custom to order breakfast. Just tell him what you would like and it's off to the market to satisfy your request. And the blueberry pancakes grilled in butter is not for the diet minded. Dining in the sunroom overlooking the garden was great.

Thanks Kevin for the wonderful experience.

Orris House Inn is one of those rare places where you wish you could stay longer. The house is exquisite but more than that you are given such a welcome that it feels like your home. The host, Kevin, dedicates himself to making sure that you have the best stay possible. Breakfast was delicious, bought and made to your bespoke requests and eaten looking out onto a beautiful garden (at night the fireflies make it quite magical). Every evening a wine glass was placed on the kitchen top and your favorite bottle of wine was cooling in the fridge. Every morning your particular brand of tea/coffee was placed outside your bedroom door before breakfast. I am a single female business traveler and stay in hotels across the world most weeks. This was one of my best stay away from home in years. A tranquil sanctuary during a very stressful working week.

Some B&Bs charge a lot, but you just get a room, albeit a nice one, and breakfast. But at the Orris House Inn, you are staying in a grand, stately mansion with every room beautifully decorated and appointed. There are English style gardens out back, and a lovely patio with table from which to sit and enjoy them. The host, Kevin, is very friendly and it's apparent from the time he greets you via a number of small but meaningful gestures (e.g.,the evening when we arrived, he asked us if we liked tea or coffee, and to our surprise we found our selections of tea with our choices of honey and milk waiting outside our room in the morning), that he wants his guests to enjoy their stay and his home. This B&B is not a let down in any way. It's not cheap, I admit, but I've paid more and gotten less. All in all, I'd have to say a good value because you can actually see what you're paying for at the Orris House Inn.

I stayed 2 nights at the Orris House Inn in June 2013. The Orris House is a grand home, and the owner graciously took the time to share information on its history. The rooms are huge, with high ceilings, an abundance of gorgeous woodwork, and plenty of light from many windows. Each is immaculate and beautifully decorated. I stayed in Room #1, which is at the front of the house. Before I arrived, I was a little concerned about traffic noise, but the room was perfectly quiet. The bed has a foam mattress, which was very comfortable. The innkeeper attends to every detail. He delivered tea outside my door 30 minutes before I was scheduled for breakfast and accommodated my vegetarian diet. Breakfast was served in a sunroom with a view of the gardens. I highly recommend the Orris House Inn.

We were more than pleased with our choice of the orris house for our wedding reception. The gardens are beautiful in spring & the inside is lovely too. The innkeeper made sure all our needs were meet & then some. Wonderful homemade breakfast made to order was delicious. We plan to return for our anniversary!
