“Absolutely terrible!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2009

Took an overnight trip for a getaway stay at a hotel with a jacuzzi room. Upon arrival everything appeared OK, but it quickly went downhill. For starters the toilet didn't work properly. Had to hold down the handle and sometimes had to flush 2 or 3 times.
Then it was time to take a shower. Well the shower didn't drain properly and by the time I was done the water was over my aknles.
Then it was off to the 'Lobster Fest' seafood buffet in the hotel restaurant. Price was $56 per person so naturally I was expecting a good meal. Wrong!!! The lobster was overcooked to the point of not being edible. The calamari & fried scallops were overcooked and dried out and appeared to be nothing more that overcooked Gortons or Van DeKamps frozen fish. The only thing that was even close to being up to par was the sausage & peppers, but I've had better at local fireman's festivals.
Now it was back to the room for a relaxing jacuzzi bath. Well, not all of the jets worked in the jacuzzi and the motor was extremely loud.
After a good nights sleep it was off to the all inclusive breakfast. Well the omelette was average, the belgium waffles you had to prepare yourself and the staff was stingy with the refills on the coffee. We would've been better off spending the money and getting breakfast at the nearby Perkins restaurant.
Between the room & dinner I spent over $300 and the experience completely sucked.
I've been to $7.95 Oriental buffets that have had better seafood and stayed in nicer hotels that cost less than half the price.
Whatever you do, don't even think of staying at this place.

Stayed as guests of a wedding party, we had 7 rooms but saw more guests from the wedding at breakfast. The room was very clean with new furniture, tv, comfortable mattresses, nothing tired or outdated about this place! Free breakfast includes, buffet plus menu w/no restrictions unless you wanted steak with your eggs. Make your own waffles were fun and delicious. Didn't like the sausage but it may be regional recipe.

Pricey ~ Outdated ~ Old ~ Stay Somewhere Else

The cost for a night's stay far exceed the value and services provided!
Please Stay Somewhere Else! There is nothing in Matamoras to visit or see that is worth spending this kind of money!

I stayed here with my show dogs overnight. You will not find hair or pet smells. So for a guest like me, who owns non-shedding breeds and is very picky about accommodations- this hotel provided a nice experience. There are a lot of amenities, if you have the time.

This place was a dump. Room smelling of bug spray, someone else's hair stuck to the shower wall. Scary local fishermen propping the outside pool door open for friends at the bar. Lobby reeked of cigarette smoke, decor is something out of the 1960s. I'd highly recommend you avoid this place.

I recently completed a 5 day stay for a hobby-related convention.
Overall, I found this to be an average, but completely comfortable and reliable hotel for the price. Tough to dispute some of the prior complaints about cleanliness since I didn't experience any of those.

Here are my comments:
The staff was very friendly. There were over 100 of us in this fairly small hotel, so they knew 'where their bread was buttered' and that might have factored into the service.

Meals were very good. We had the hot breakfast each morning, I had several lunches in Annie's bar and the main restaurant (buffet style for lunch), and they were good in quality and value. Dinners (both ala carte and our banquet) were well done. I didn't have the seafood buffet on Friday night, but it is clearly the high point of the dining experience here, and well worth the $55 from what I hear.

Our room was fine. Smallish, but in good shape, no smells, no signs of mildew, etc. It had a nice sized mini-fridge and a microwave in it (I don't know if all do or not). A/C was good too-not too loud nor cold. The hallways do have smoking rooms near the front elevator, so you have to walk past them to get to the non-smoking rooms, which is a turn off.

The property seemed in good repair. A nice outdoor patio, decent pool (although very chlorine filled), ok fitness room and business center. The comment on the grounds is valid--~40 acres, but most are unkept and open field. The hotel does have a barn near the Delaware River, but it isn't used. I wouldn't plan to use the acreage for much exce[t walking a dog. A running path would be nice.

The location in Matamoras is helpful. You are <5 minutes to Pt Jervis and 5 minutes to Milford. Even though the hotel appears to be right on I-84, you don't have highway sounds or anything. It is a quiet location, convenient to all activities in the area.

In short, I would have no reservations about giving it a shot. I believe most rooms aren't as bad as described.
