What a fantastic evening. Business dinner, relaxed at bar for a time, duck for dinner, shrimp chorizo soup, carrot cake. Want to go back right now. Just wonderful!

“Best Restaurant within 100 miles”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

No question, this is by far the best restaurant west of Manhattan. Chef Shawn's creative delicacies are an art to behold and the quaint setting on the mountain top just west of Allentown makes it even more special. I must admit we are regulars.

The Savory is a small, intimate and delightful place to enjoy an evening, feast in celebration or wallow in gourmet cooking at its best. Service is always excellent and done the way it should be done i.e. dishes are not removed until everyone at the table is done eating.

In the more than 10 years we have been going to the Savory we have never been disappointed with a single dish. And while we have eaten at wonderful and renowned restaurants all over the world, this ranks right up at the top.

Kudos to Shawn, his wife Dorothy and the staff at the Savory for creating an oasis of wonderful dining in the most unlikely of settings.

“Top of the line Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

This place ranks up as one of the best restaurants in the area. The food is perfect and we have never had a bad meal. A tour de-force from the homemade breads, appetizers, meal all the way through dessert. The restaurant is small and has limited staff, so don't expect to get a quick meal. Also, each meal is freshly prepared (unlike other restaurants) and sometimes the chief can get a little behind. Part of its charm is to just relax and enjoy the company you are with. I much rather have a slow and enjoyable evening, than be rush out to make room for the next sitting like most places. It is located a little off the beaten path in a beautiful old stone farm house, which adds to its character.

“Diamond in the Rough”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

I had not been biased by other TA reviews when this place was recommended. We were out dropping our puppy off at the kennel (45 min from our house) and happened upon the Savory Grill. Thursday night at 6:30pm the 4 of us stopped in. 3 hours later, we ran out of words characterizing one of the best meals of my 46 years. Best martini my Dad and Mom had every had - special vermouth and super cold. Great craft beer selection. Molasses bread and creamy butter was outstanding. Service was attentive. Be prepared to spend at least 2 hours dining; there was a sizable gap in time between salads and entrees. But it was worth the wait. Salad dressings were unique and tasty. Especially liked the Greek and the Blueberry Vinegrette. We had the pork chop, the filet, and the lamb. All hot, well seasoned, and expertly presented. The filet was cut with just a fork. Then came dessert. If you get nothing else - you MUST have the creme brulee. The Pear Tart with homemade vanilla bean ice cream was out of this world. The wait staff had conversation with us, at one point getting her special restaurant guide for NYC out to give us recommendations and the brand of vermouth. If you had a bad experience here in the past; then they must have taken the feedback to heart, cause this un assuming place in the middle of cornfields is a diamond in the rough. Restaurant serves a new menu each week. Pricey, Award winning chef.

“Beautifully presented food. Expensive too.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

The food was fabulous. From the homemade very tasty breads to the Filet Mignon and Hawaiian fish to the yumcity dessert (churro). All were beautifully presented and wonderfully prepared. We sat in the "patio" which was really just an added on room. Nice woodwork though. Service was good as we were there to enjoy dinner and be with our friends. I don't really know how long it took for our courses to be served. But I have to say it was well worth the wait...what works of art..Gorgeous food presentation! My only gripe is the quick swiping away of the plates and my drink (she should have asked if I was finished first). And I did want to take home my $42 uneaten portion of my fish, but then I realized the waitress had plates stacked on top of my remaining dinner . So the dang dog ended up eating my fish. This is strickly special occasion for us as our dinner totaled $310 including tip. (4 of us did have 2 appetizers which we split, 4 entrees, 1 dessert and 8 drinks)
