“cozy inn or rock and roll penthouse”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

I stayed here for one night on a swing through quaint Lititz, PA. I had been in the inn before for a wedding reception and saw the historically preserved first floor, so I was a bit surprised when I was given a special key at check in to access the 3rd floor penthouse level. (no elevator) I walked upstairs, through the 2nd floor (also very historic period furniture), to the third floor door that opened into a rock and roll themed penthouse floor, complete with posters, stage diagrams, speakers, and microphones dotted around as fixtures. Definitely different, but I enjoyed it. It was very clean and cozy, and I liked that the third floor also had a lounge and kitchen complete with continental breakfast for guests staying on that floor.
Downtown Lititz was so sweet, I can't wait to go back. Just one note, since I stayed over on a Saturday night-- all shops and the majority of the eateries are closed on Sundays.

My wife and I spend a weekend at the General Sutter Inn in Lititz Pa. To start with everyone we encountered at the Inn, front desk clerks, servers, bartenders, housecleaning, managers, were friendly, helpful and couldn't have been more enthusiastic about the Inn and Lititz in general. Our room was definitely in need of some modernization, but it was clean, cozy and comfortable. The food at the restaurants was very good and if you like beer, their tavern is just the place for you. We enjoyed the outside bar with all the locals hanging out enjoying themselves. We would not hesitate to go back to the General Sutter, and Lititz is indeed "The coolest small town in America".

If you do not like old places, do not go here. I love old places, so this place is wonderful. Beautiful restored old inn, had wonderful meal in the dining room. The inn is right downtown, so walk around and check out the shops. Staff is great. If you do go, my mom was in the room right above the bar and it was Saturday night, do not stay in this room, sorry can't remember the number, so ask. Inn was great, but would have appreciated them telling us about this room and the noise.

Room Tip: Do not stay in the room above bar if you want any sleep and it's the week-end.

My husband and I were looking for a new place to spend the weekend. We are fond of "unique little towns" - we hit the jackpot this time! Our adventure started off with an internet search of neat places to stay in unique towns. General Sutter Inn was at the top of the search - we did some other research and decided this was the place we would go. I have to admit - since there was an authentic pub attached, the decision was a no-brainer for my husband who loves craft brews. The check in was simple - we arrived 3 hours before check in time and they were ready for us - the staff was full of smiles and were helpful. The rooms were charming... the amenities were sparse but more than what we needed. We had a great nights sleep and would highly recommend this Inn to others who are looking for a great place to stay in an amazing small town.

Room Tip: 1. We enjoyed being able to see Main Street from our room - but if you don't like a little nois...

Back in the Fall, we started looking at different wedding venues. When we visited the General Sutter Inn, and met with Jeff Merk, we knew that's where we wanted it to be. Jeff went above and beyond to make our reception more than what we hoped for. Through all of the planning, he listened, cared about what we wanted, and made sure things were delivered as promised. Our guests can't stop talking about how wonderful the reception was! The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was incredible. We stayed on the third floor and that too was incredible with it's rock and roll themed rooms. We would definitely recommend Jeff and his staff to anyone looking to have a great experience!

Room Tip: Stay on the third floor! You won't regret it!

We recently stayed on the 3rd floor of the General Sutter and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. The rooms are uniquely decorated with stage and sound equipment as a celebration of the touring companies based there. The baths were stylish, and the decor one-of-a-kind. It's fascinating just to explore the common lounge, kitchen, and hall areas. The rest of the Inn features a lively English pub, smaller casual bar, and formal dining room. Wonderful selection of beer, and a very tasty menu. The staff is very friendly and attentive.

Room Tip: "On Stage" was our pick. It's a suite with a very large shower and 3 shower heads.

The location is marvelous, due to the uniqueness and history of Lititz, PA. The street itself is gorgeous, with one historic building after another. You can feel the Founding Fathers in Lititz which comprises great contrast to the surrounding plain Amish towns. Litiz is all about technology and education for women, unlike Lancaster county. In addition, the main roads are just a hop and skip away.

The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable, but the dust is thick beneath furniture and on window shutters. The plumbing and decor are old, but charming still.

The wifi works well.

The bar downstairs is full of character and good quality food and drinks.

The room was very cold when we arrived, but the concierge fixed the problem soon enough.

There are gourmet places on the same street, and historic factories also.

The breakfast is nothing to mention; just yogurt and cold cereal, and few bagels (not even danish or good bread). However, there is a chocolatier next door that serves an awesome breakfast.

For the price, I would pick this hotel again.
