“Great location, good amenities, mediocre rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

There are two related reasons to stay at the Continental Inn: (1) you are going to Dutch Wonderland, and this hotel is right next to the theme park so you can walk there easily without having to cross a street; and (2) because you are going to Dutch Wonderland, you have small kids, and the pools, playground, big lawn, game room etc. are great distractions when you can't be at the park. The breakfast buffet also is nice (not fancy, but certainly serviceable) and free for the first two persons per room. The rooms, however, are dated (like the rest of the property) and mediocre at best. They are on par with what you'd expect at a $40-50/night motel, although with a better TV. The first night we stayed there was very humid, and the room was almost dank despite the AC on high. Fortunately, it dried out the next day, so the room was better, but that didn't change the very soft beds and somewhat depressing overall condition of the room. (It wasn't dirty, but it was certainly well worn.) All that said, I rate the hotel 4 out of 5 because it was so convenient, and it offered a very easy and stress-free way to spend the day with the kids without having to start the car once. Nevertheless, if I had to come to this area again, I'd look for a property with similar amenities, but in better shape, even if I had to drive to Dutch Wonderland (the parking there is free...).

Room Tip: The interior rooms are a little nicer as they face the pool/lawn; the outside rooms face the parking...

Saw several negative reviews after we'd already reserved rooms and thought of cancelling but glad we didn't...The rooms were clean and housekeeping took care of us during our two night stay. The beds were doubles, smaller than I'm used to but we still slept well. The hotel has two good pools, which also were clean and maintained well. We also enjoyed the ping pong tables as well as playing pool in the lobby area. maybe the room could've been nicer but for what we paid and what other hotels were charging, I'd say we left more than pleased. If there was any complaint, it was that, while the breakfast buffet was better than many I've had at hotels, the check-in and check-out for that meal was sorely lacking. That would be an area that needs improvement. Overall, our stay here was better than expected...

Room Tip: We saved a few bucks staying parking lot side. I think the nine or ten bucks more might have been wo...

Location is great.. Walking distance to Dutch Wonderland and lots of farms. Hotel was old but ok... The room wasn't great.. but your there to sleep so who cares... clean, but stuffy.... carpet is old.. they need to renew.... they have an outdoor and indoor pool... a play area for the kids.. and parents can relax. Breakfast was good.. 2 adults free.. kids have to pay a meal... meanwhile kids never eat... dumb... should be free for kids..

Room Tip: I thought the pool side would be less noise.. but not good... quieter where the parking lot was.

This was the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at. The staff was rude, the rooms were disgusting, and there was some kind of blood or other bodily fluid on our pillows. All of our pillows had some kind of stains on them. However one had red/orange spots all over them. When I told the staff they did not offer to switch rooms or get us new hello. We had to go out and buy our own pillows and pillowcases just so we could sleep with pillows in the bed. The carpets were stained and disgusting. The bathroom and vanity had cracks all over it. When looking online they are tricky, they only have pictures posted of the attractions in the area and none of the nasty rooms. Do not stay here ever. This is not a place for children or seniors. I am sure that there are some kind of germs in each room.

The continental in has been the only place we stay.We have tried the rest and they are the best.
Staff was wonderful, Rooms were comfortable and clean the grounds are beautiful. Breakfast was good and Free for two people. The Continental is right in the middle of everything just a short walk to Dutch Wonderland. We started going when my daughter was a little girl and now all my family go at least once a year.

Room Tip: Stay country side close to pools and play ground,

I was part of a 50-person bus group so figured the accommodations would be sub-par.
Boy was I surprised! We were efficiently checked in. My room had a coffeemaker
(brought my own), refrigerator, sink outside the bathroom which contained a tub....joy
I can soak after touring! Brand new TV - outside was a wrought-iron bench, tables w/
umbrellas to sit around. Property has a beautiful pool, tennis courts, manicured grounds.

Heading into the INCLUDED breakfast the next a.m.; stopping in the lobby to check
my e-mail (free). Breakfast was 2 pancakes, sausage, 2 bacon rashers with family style
passed bowls of scrambled eggs, toast and home fries. OJ and coffee or tea.

And the staff was very pleasant helping those by assisting w/wheelchairs, etc.

Would stay there again in a heartbeat.
