Description: If you haven't visited El Serrano along Lancaster's Columbia Avenue lately, you haven't visited El Serrano. Or, perhaps it is more appropriate to say, you haven't visited Peru. Every square inch of the Latin-American restaurant has been extensively redesigned, upgraded and refurbished authentically, with architectural details similar to those of 150 years ago--to the point that stepping through its hand-carved mahogany doors is like entering a Peruvian hacienda. As owner Manuel Torres says, "it's like going on vacation."

“Our favorite Mexican Restraunt!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

If we are in the mood for Mexican food in Lancaster, PA this is where we go. The food is alway very good and the margaritas are the best! This is where we went to dinner for our anniversary, always a favorite place to dine!

“Great Latino find in Lancaster”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

Visited El Serrano on an early Saturday dinner trip for 3. Liked the ambiance. Would have like endless chips & salsa as we planned what we'd eat. One had the El Sarrano combo, one the chimichanga, the other fajitas -- we all enjoyed -- all pretty tasty and not too Americanized, which was nice. That was our second visit in a couple of years. We wouldn't hesitate going again or recommending to others.

“Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

We had heard rave reviews about El Serrano. Our meal started off with great (but overpriced at $30 a litre) white sangria and chips and salsa. Our entrees were a completely different story. My crab enchiladas were mediocre at best. The quality of the crabmeat was poor and there was really no flavor to the dish or any of the accompaniments on the plate. My dining companion ordered a vegetarian combo was was very disappointed with her meal.

The service was good, the atmosphere was nice, but we will not be returning.

“El Serrano....something for everyone.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

We joined 19 members of our local wine club and enjoyed a fun eveing upstairs in their tapas dining area. We started the meal off with bubbly and little bites. We then toured the kitchen, wine cellar, and numerous other rooms this huge but beautifully crafted restaurant has. Downstairs is Mexican food, upstairs is Peruvian and Tapas.

In a large private dining room we ate our main meal paired with 5 different wines. The meal was unique throughout and tasty. Wines were interesting and different.
The owner Manuel took us on a tour of the building he designed and help build explaining constucting and beautiful woodwork throughout.

Food, ambience, many different rooms and styles to dine in, this restaurant truly has something for everyone...couples, groups, families and singles. Give it a try and you will surely be pleased. I recommend it to you.
