“Excellent across the board!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

We have stayed in many motels in Lancaster for many years now, and I have to say, that this is THE best one we have ever been in thus far. I reserved this room through Priceline.com, and we were in no way disappointed with any aspect of this inn. The halls and parking lot were clean, the rooms were emaculate. The furnishings and decorations were all country themed. Wifi worked great and the tv and channels were great also. An on site restaurant was also nice, being open for carryout late at night. There were also coffee, tea and juices available round the clock. Also free popcorn, popped right in the lobby. Also a continental (plus) breakfast. Muffins, cereal, boiled eggs, toast, bagels, cooked oatmeal, donuts....very nice. Would definitely recommend, and we will be staying here again. So refreshing from our past experiences. Balcony rooms also available with rocking chairs. Although the inn is close to a major highway, noise is not an issue at all.

This hotel has a terrific pool and hot tub area. The rooms, however, while clean, are old with "country decor" that is tired and dated. The poor lighting in the rooms and hallways just made everything quite dreary as we had only one small window in the room. The first floor had a dampness issue but we were on the second floor which was a little better. They definitely need new mattresses and a re-do on the old and heavy "country quilts" and heavy sham pillows. I feel sure that families with children would love the pool and the large rooms but this was not a place I would return to.

Amish country and all it offers is right on your doorstep. The Strasburg Railroad and Pennsylvania Railroader's Museum are also nearby. The staff worked hard to ensure a pleasant stay. There's even fresh popcorn in the afternoon! The room decor is dated (heavy bedspreads and panneling) and the self-serve breakfast nothing to rave about.

Room Tip: rooms in back may avoid highway noise

Had a group in Lancaster for production at the Sight & Sound Theatre. Found the rooms clean. Bedding and linens crisp and comfortable. Complimentary tea, coffee, hot cidar and popcorn in the lobby were a welcome sight after a long day of travel. Hot buffet breakfast was plentiful, yet lacked a little in seasonings. No one went hungry and couldn't complain about the service. Our coffee cups were refilled promptly and everyone seated as soon as they walked in the the restaurant. Hotel property was quiet. No noise heard from the street as the hotel is perpendicular to the street instead of parallel to it.

Room Tip: Hotel is not within walking distance of added attractions. Street in front of hotel extremely busy...

Our family had another great experience at the Country Inn of Lancaster. The rooms are clean, charming and spacious. The staff is over the top helpful and very professional. We went to Dutch Wonderland (our third visit with our five year old) and our car broke down. The staff was very informative and did everything to help. They generously extended our check out time and the receptionist even drove my husband to the mechanic. We would highly recommend this facility.

Our family stayed here for the weekend 3 adults and 2 children. Everyone was very helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was great, and the 24 hrs coffee and juice was also great. This place is plain and clean. The indoor pool was fun in the evening with the little ones. The price is great. It was one mile away from Dutchwonderland and outlets, and about 4 from Strausburg railroad. We also enjoyed the restaurant, prices were good. The service was great!

Loved the Country Inn. We have stated in other hotels in Lancaster and were unpleasantly surprised when we checked in. We had the exact opposite experience with the Country Inn.
We were shocked when we checked in. It is EXTRA clean and charming. The photos online do not do it justice. I thought that it was going to be dated, but it was not at all, it was country quaint. The beds and pillows were EXTRA cozy, very good quality; I can not stress this enough. Also the bedding is real cotton country quilts, no polyester bedding! Breakfast was more than adequate. For the big price tag of free you get bagels, donuts, oatmeal, cereal, hard boiled eggs, juice, tea/coffee and fresh fruit. If you can’t make a meal from what they offer, it’s not their fault. It is a small eating area but you can take the food back to your room. Each room has a beautiful wood table and chairs. Each floor also had extra dining table and chairs, book shelves with books to borrow and a computer and printer.
The negatives for families with small children were:
1. No DVD in rooms and no movie rental options. They did have "kid" channels but not for young kids (nick, not nick Jr, Disney, not Disney Jr) Not an issue if you have beautiful weather or older children, but in bad weather you should have a tv/dvd options for young kids.
2. Tile around indoor pool is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. My daughter fell two times in a row, and she was just walking. The older kids and adults did not seem to have any problems, but another girl around my daughters age (4) also fell twice. They have some mats down and that helps, but it was very dangerous for the young ones!
3. Like other people who reviewed this hotel, the shower water did get scolding hot during your shower. It happened on and off on my second night, but not at all on the first. My daughter still takes baths so it was not an issue for her, I just cut my shower a little short and forgot to tell my husband (oops) and next think I know he was screaming…yikes!
But given its negatives, the positives were so wonderful I think we will stay again. I would bring my portable DVD (the TV’s do have hook-ups), give my daughter a bath, and hold her hand at the pool. You can’t beat the price, quality, or charm. They also give you a free drink coupon for their restaurant, and when you check out they give you a discount for your next stay and an upgrade to a balcony suite. They also automatically gave us a cheaper rate when we checked in.
Hope this review helped

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not face Lincoln Hwy. They will have a noise factor. But all the hotels on...
