“The Prefect Hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2008

We stayed at the Lovelace monor for 2 nights in August so that we could learn about Amish life by visiting the Amish farmlands.

On arrival we were greeted by Lark and Michael who showed us around the house which is fabulous. We stayed in the Althea room which is the smallest room, Lark offered us the suite as it was available for our stay but settle with what we had booked as it was a nice bright room and big enough for our needs.

Lark and Michael gave us plenty of information about things to do and see and made sure we were fixed up for a place to eat. I was very impressed by the way Lark is so enthuiastic about where she lives and places we could go and eat and helping her guests. Once we had chosen a place to eat Lark even made a call to the restaurant to make us a reservation as she didnt want us to waste time driving to find we couldnt get a table.

One of the hightlights of our trip was having dinner at a an Amish families house. We learn't so much by doing this and it was all down to Lark and Michael arranging this for us.

Breakfast on both days was superb, you couldn't have asked for better food.

Lark and Michael certainly made sure you felt at home and even after such a short stay they felt like they were your friends. This is the way a bed and breakfast should be run!

If you want to be spoilt and made to feel special you need to look no further. Lark and Michael are wonderful hosts and it is obvious that they take great pride in their manor. The rooms are large and beautiful and they take every care to making you feel relaxed and welcome. I would not hesitate in suggesting you say there.

Overall I would say this is probably one of the best B & B's we have ever stayed in on holiday and I am extremely fussy! Everything written on its website is true and I must say that Lark and Michael are very special and talented hosts. The breakfast they serve is sure to keep you going until dinner hour at which time if you don't know the area Lark and Micheal have left a well put together album full of resturant choices in the area. If you want to mix a little luxury with a day trip to Amish Country Lovelace Manor is an absolute must!

Our stay at Lovelace Manor was a little treat for my parents during a recent visit home to Pennsylvania. We stayed in the Althea and Ellinda rooms. Both were beautifuly decorated with a comfortable bed, port for an after dinner drink and working ac. The ac was important as it was during a very hot spell in Lancaster. Michael and Lark were fantastic hosts. My father loved the homemade chocolate chip cookies left in the pantry for an afternoon snack and the breakfast was very good. The house overall was very charming with many of the furnishing and glassware in the B&B coming from Larks family. Everything was done to insure we had a pleasant visit and I would recommend this B&B to my friends. Parking was easy, just beside the house.

The Lovelace Manor is a very clean and nice home. It is located in a residential neighborhood. Our room was very nicely decorated. We had to leave early, so didn't get a chance to stay for breakfast.
If traffic noise is a concern, we would recommend requesting a room in the back of the house. Even though the inn in located in a residential neighborhood, there is a lot of traffic that passes by the front of the house. We would definitely stay again, but would request a room that faces the back.

  • Liked — The decor and ambiance. Location was nice too.
  • Disliked — The traffic noise at night.

Wow! That was my first thought as we came through the doors at Lovelace Manor. I had that thought many more times during our stay! Lark and Michael were outstanding host's. They knew so much about the area and gave us ideas of things to do and wonderful places to eat. The room was beautiful, even better than the pictures. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have slept on and the sheets made me want to stay in bed all day! Good thing we didn't because breakfast is not something you want to miss. We had a 3 course breakfast that was enough to carry us almost through lunch. We also loved that there was a pantry filled with drinks and snacks anytime we wanted a little something. They really just thought of everything. We can't wait till we can come back for another visit! Just know that if you stay at Lovelace you will not walk away disappointed!! Thanks Michael and Lark!!!

  • Liked — I can't name just one!
  • Disliked — That we couldn't stay longer!

Perfection is the only term to describe this bed and breakfast. Lark and Michael, the innkeepers, have created a romantic retreat close to local Lancaster attractions. The rooms are beautifully decorated, clean, and have every amenity a traveler needs. The breakfasts are fantastic - my husband gained five pounds during our stay and I won't even venture near the scales. Aspiring innkeepers would do well to pay a visit to Lovelace Manor as a guide for "all the right stuff." Best of all, are Lark and Michael themselves. Personality plus, and filled with excellent suggestions for restaurants and activities in the Lancaster area. Until we found Lovelace Manor, we had never re-visited a bed and breakfast, but we have already booked our next visit and can hardly wait for November.
