“So bad the local cop tells people to not stay here!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

It may be close to the Dutch Wonderland and the Amish country but the hotel is horrible. Check in took awhile and had to ask for a receipt. The room wasn't very clean. The beds were like sleeping on springs with a piece of cloth over them. The sheets had cigarette burns through them and the pillows were flat. The only way to get any comfort was to fold up all the covers and lay on top of them(it didn't help much). After much tossing and turning we woke up more tired than when we got there. Breakfast was a joke. Cereal with milk and coffee. They had orange juice but it had run out and no one was around to refill it. There were only a couple of talbes and they were full. The window sill by the front door was quite wide so we stood there to eat our cereal. Later in the day we asked a police officer for directions and he asked if we were looking for a place to stay. We told him we had already spent the night at the Super 8 and he said he wished he would have seen us pulling in there because he follows people in to the parking lot and tells them to stay anywhere but there.

Room Tip: Red Roof Inn just down the street from this Super 8 is wonderful!!!

I stayed at the Super 8 - 02 August 2012. Nice desk clerk. However, this place has a very serious bedbug infestation.The room smelled bad. Rooms were very dirty. The next morning I had large red welts all over my body.

This has to be by far the worst room I have ever stayed in! The non-smoking room reeks of cigarettes, the table can't be used because the top wobbles and tips, the TV doesn't work, it is dirty, and one of the pillows looks like an old one a guest had left behind and another pillow is a comforter that has been folded and sewn and then stuffed in a pillow case!!!

There are three necessities a hotel should provide to keep the guest satisfied. They are
* Cleanliness
* Comfort
* Reasonable Quality
In my opinion, the Super 8 Lancaster fails on all three counts.
Cleanliness - Little effort is made here. A good scrub may improve matters
Comfort - The sheets on the bed is a one size fits all. Even if it is a king bed you get queen sheeting, a very basic underlay, also too small, which is not anchored. So overnight you are constantly chasing the sheeting which is over a plastic mattress cover.....Hmm what has occurred here before?
Reasonable quality - You just know the places where you will return and recommend to your friends and this is not one of them.

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere.

I accidentally booked a room for my fiance and I at Super 8 in Lancaster, PA, when I was trying to reserve a room at Howard Johnson's in Lancaster, PA. Because Howard Johnson Motel is now out of business, their website unknowingly to me steered to Super 8.

After reserving and pre-paying for the room, I read the reviews. I was very nervous about the hotel from the negative reviews. We arrived at the hotel at 3:00am on May 23. Our room #318 was ready and clean.

The weather was nice enough to keep our hotel window open, however the traffic from Lincoln Highway was loud all night and all day long. The noise lulled my fiance and I to sleep, since we preferred to have the window open rather than the air condition turned on.

We stayed there for 5 nights. Every day we had to have our card key reprogramed upon return to the hotel from sightseeing. The card key would operate to let us into the hotel building, but wouldn't work in our door.

They have a continental breakfast, however because I have family living in Lancaster who we visited with, we didn't check out the motel's breakfast. Having a swimming pool would greatly add to the quality of the Motel, however they don't.

At $49.99 per night for a place to lay our head at the end of the day, on busy tourist-filled Lincoln Highway, during a holiday weekend.....I think we got a good deal.

Our room smelled of dog urine. The bedding and sheets were lined in a mysterious white substance, various hairs were found under the pillows and in the middle of the bedding, and a large brown stain lined the backing on the comforter. The shower was dirty, lined in soap scum and you could see the dirt embedded into the tub floor. We had to stand on a towel when we showered. The air conditioner unit had a mysterious wire coming from the control unit. None of the staff were dressed in corporate clothing to distinquish them as an employee of the Super 8 Hotel. The security guard/maintencence man was less than professional. He yelled and handled himself less than professioanlly. He appeared to be a longterm resident which lived there in the hotel. We sleep on top of the covers and used our own blankets which we traveled from home with. Don't make the same mistake we did. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Room Tip: Don't Stay here, NASTY!
