“Easter weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

We stayed at the Fulton Steam Boat Inn twice before this trip. We totally enjoyed our stay again! This hotel is an old steam boat and sits in water. The property is beautiful inside and out! Friendly!

Room Tip: The only thing wrong was we needed to use the sleeper sofa this stay and when we puled it out it was...

The steamboat theme is a lot of fun for families, and you really feel like you are entering a steamboat from the past as soon as you walk through the door to the hotel. We had a room with a queen bed for us adults, and a bunk bed for the two teenage girls. All of the employees we had contact with were very friendly and helpful.

We used the pool -- kind of cool for my liking, but since I usually think that, I must like my pool water warmer than most. The hot tub had some hair floating in it, but since we used it at night, I imagine that it started out clean.

We did not eat in the restaurant.

We did not visit any of the outdoor areas - Our trip was in February, and during a snow storm!

The only two negatives: A light was out in the bathroom (no big deal, really, but I just appreciate when all details are attended to by hotel staff), and our room was on the first floor facing the parking lot. I know, someone has to stay there! But since it was such a snowy weekend and we couldn't enjoy spending time outside, it would have been nice to stay in a room with a nicer view. Not the hotel's fault! I just suggest requesting a room on the back side of the property for a nicer view.

The property is on a main strip for restaurants and shopping, and it is close to the countryside.

Room Tip: Request a room on the back side of the property for a nicer view.

My extended family has been staying here each June for about 5 years now, and recently added a December trip as well. We love it! It is clean and well-run with spacious rooms. The steamboat theme is fun. The indoor pool area is great for the kids, along with the outdoor play area. There are also ducks to feed. Fresh-baked cookies are available in the lobby at certain times of day. The food at the two restaurants is very good. If you visit the main restaurant in particular, be prepared to WAIT. We typically send one person down to order breakfast and everyone else comes down an hour later to eat. We all look forward to hanging out at the tavern with David, the bartender. There are hundreds of places to shop and eat nearby. We use this hotel as a home base for outlet shopping, Hershey Park (takes the better part of an hour to get there, though) and Dutch Wonderland (5 min away). It is in the heart of Amish country and the Indian Cavern is fun to visit as well (go there if it rains).

Stayed for Memorial Day weekend. Room was great, 3 kids and 2 adults stayed in the king bed with trundle. It was clean, just perfect for us. We were welcomed by the nicest people at the desk. We were missing an ironing board and within minutes of letting the front desk know, knock at the door. Service was excellent. The cookies that they put out in the afternoon are absolutely a great touch and addictive. The food at Huckleberry's was the best. We definitely will come back again, without a doubt. I have already told people to stay here. I won't bother with any other place to stay. (Scott at the front desk was especially nice and great sense of humor!) You can't go wrong with this place.

Room Tip: We were on the first floor room 136, which was perfect not too close to the pool.

Great value accommodation, very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are very well appointed and clean. The pool area is clean and well maintained. Hotel is well located for touring the local attractions wish we had more time to stay and will be back.

Had an overnight stay at the steamboat inn on May 17th. We had a passport package which included 2 alcoholic beverages, 2 dinners, and breakfast for two. We ate at Huckelberrys, which is a restaurant on the premises. Food was good,as was the service. The hotel room was on the third floor with a private deck which was nice, king size bed with a electric fire place. I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The third floor is for adults with no children, the indoor pool is open from 10-midnight for adults o...

We usually visit the Lancaster area about 3 or 4 times a year for day trips, but we've never stayed overnight before. We've driven by the Fulton Steamboat Inn for years and always thought it looked so nice - it has an ideal location, so when we decided to say overnight, this was our first (and only) choice.

Our first impression of the lobby was how beautifully decorated it was - elegant and charming. I had made a reservation online so check in was a breeze. During the time we were checking in, there was a small table in the lobby with chocolate chip cookies and ice water.....what a nice touch! Our room was on the second floor and was just beautiful. We had two queen beds, and two very comfortable wing back chairs to enjoy. The beds were so comfortable, I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud. We left our window open to enjoy the cool night air and enjoyed hearing the ducks outside our room. Did I mention there were ducks on the property? They're free to roam around (outside) wherever they wish. Our bathroom was also very nice. There was an extra sink outside the bathroom, which is always a nice touch. The room also had a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, iron/ironing board and flat screen TV with DVD player. There was an ice machine located by the elevator. Even the hallway was gorgeous - plush carpeting and gorgeous light fixtures on the ceiling. At the end of the hallway, we were able to look down and see the indoor swimming pool. We didn't do any swimming but the area looked very nice with several lounge chairs, both inside and out. Being we were looking down on the pool, we could see they painted a few pictures of Koi fish swimming in the pool. Cute idea!

The outside is just as charming. We enjoyed a walk around the property and seeing the beautiful surroundings. There's a small pond for the Koi fish and ducks - alongside there's a fire pit and Adirondack chairs to relax and enjoy the stunning country views, or enjoy a good book! There are two gazebo's with tables and chairs - perfect to have a snack or cool beverage. There's even a small playground for kids that looked really fun. (Oh, to be a kid again!)

We didn't try the restaurant, Huckleberry's, but we peeked in and it looked really nice. Next time we definitely plan on having dinner there. It would be nice if the hotel offered guests 10% off their bill, as many hotels do.

I just want to mention one more thing. This place is IMMACULATE. From our bedroom and bathroom to the hallway, lobby and outside areas, everything is super clean and in good repair.

There are many places to stay in the area but if you want something different, I would highly recommend staying at the Fulton Steamboat Inn.
