This is the second year in a row that my husband and I stayed at the Marriott at Penn Square in December, We had a corner room with a spectacular view over the city, accentuated by the Christmas decor and all the lights. Everything was clean and comfortable. Service was prompt and friendly, and the environment of the lobby was bright and warm.

We breakfasted in the hotel restaurant. The prices were steep, both for buffet and menu items, but the atmosphere was pleasant and the food was excellent. The restaurant/lounge area is also a great place for an evening night cap.

This hotel has a great fitness facility, as well as a pool and hot tub. We did not take advantage of the spa, but it looked inviting.

Central to so many shops and bistros, this is a favorite locale for us. I'd definitely recommend it!

Stayed at this property in November 2012. The service at the hotel was exceptional- friendly and accomodating at check-in, gracious throughout the stay. I even got comped on ibuprofen and a bottled beverage from the lobby gift shop due to thier "acts of kindness" policy - a little touch, but very appreciated when I was dealing with a nasty headache.

The concierge lounge breakfast was good, but not fantastic - however it certainly wasn't a big enough deal to impact my overall impression of the hotel. Only other note - the parking rate is a bit steep for this area at $28/night valet. This is what I get charged for parking in Baltimore, and the cost of living in Lancaster, PA is considerably less.

My husband and I stayed 1 night here. Check in was easy and pleasant. The rooms were very nice and clean. The beds, sheets and pillows were very comfortable. I was a little shocked when we had to pay 15$ to park and 13$ for internet. For 150$ a night I would think the parking and internet would be free.

The past ten years Marriott has renovated or reused historic properties across the country that are all unique yet modern (i.e. San Diego Downtown Courtyard, The Hotel Minneapolis, Philadelphia Downtown Courtyard). The public spaces in the Lancaster Marriott take full advantage of the historic building while adding a hotel tower for the guest rooms. Valet parking in front can get crowded in a hurry. Adjacent public garage is a good alternative though it's long hike indoors through the convention center to that garage. Easy walking proximity to restaurants is a big positive.

Service: up to the usual Marriott standard which is pretty good (professional, knowledgeable, friendly)

Rooms: reflects current Marriott clean and contemporary design; room size is average; the center of downtown location means some street noise will be present (hey, it's downtown)

Concierge Lounge: below the usual Marriott standard; fortunately, the indoor market is kitty corner to the hotel
