I planned a last minute getaway trip to Lancaster, PA for Labor Day weekend 2008. I usually research hotels, areas, etc. to death, but this one seemed like a no brainer. This resort had it all. The hotel was super duper clean. The rooms were spacious and ours overlooked the indoor pool. The room was so quiet, you'd never know there were 20 screaming kids in the pool. The price was right as well. Very reasonable. When we arrived at around lunchtime, we headed to Bird in Hand for a buggie ride. We ended up with Abe's Buggie rides and had a wonderful time. Our driver was Amish and answered all of our questions as well as told us about their lifestyle. Then we headed to Good n' Plenty. I have to say I'm a picky eater, but I couldn't get enough of the food. That night on the menu was ham meatloaf, a roast and fried chicken. The fried chicken was the best I've ever had - nice & crispy. The sides were sweet corn, mash potatos, dutch noodles in browned butter and a bunch of other stuff. There was just as much for dessert. The next day we had the brunch at the hotel. For $30 we had a never-ending meal. There were at least 5 different stations with hundreds of choices: egg station, cheese and fruit station, bakery and bread station, pasta station, fish & meats, soups & salads and much much more. The food was super fresh and well prepared. We could've sat there for 2 more hours. We then headed to Adamstown for antique shopping. There really wasn't much too buy in old/furniture antiques - on the expensive side. There were tons of knick-knacks if that's what you're in to - you'll have a ball. This day was wrapped up by relaxing by the outdoor pool. Really nice area, clean and pretty big pool. The last day, we went to Intercourse for some local produce along the way to the touristy area which was still nice. Had a blast. We're still talking about it and definitely going back. There's really so much to do. This is also Outlet shopping heaven. Another really good place to eat is at Iron Horse Brewery across from Franklin & Marshall University.
