Description: The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. Legal Sea Foods is a Philly favorite. Surrounded by hotels and near both the Valley Forge Convention Center and Valley Forge National Historic Site, we are at a mall entrance on the upper level of the Court. Guests get reeled in by our buzz-worthy lounge and comfortable dining room. Half-shell hedonists may sit at our 10-seat horse-shoe shaped oyster bar where slurping is encouraged. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. We’ve received a boatload of accolades including the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.

“good seafood but definately a chain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

The food is good but if you have been to one you have been to them all. There is something good about a chain in that you always know what you are going to get but there is always something missing from the place being excellent. I would go back - l love all of the soups!

“Pleasant dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

Enjoyed an excellent seafood stew on Xmas. My friends also enjoyed their food, lite seafood chowder, mussels and salad. Nice atmosphere and pretty reasonable prices compared to any upscale steak restaurant , e.g.. $27 for a healthy portion instead of $45 for just the meat.

“Chain Experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012 via mobile

Had lunch and was looking forward to a high quality experience, but was disappointed. The service was very good. Seated quickly, server very nice, timing was not rushed, and atmosphere was very nice. The crab cakes were very small and were more filler than crab and the glasses of wine came in spotty glasses with lines on the glass to help measure out an economical pour. Not great quality regardless of cost. Will not go back.

“great lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

Even though soup and salad should be grouped together on a lunch menu as an entree, we had to order sepatarely. Both the soup and salad were very good. You can't beat Legal's New England clam chowder.

“Less than Expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

My first visit to a Legal Sea Foods was in 2001 in Cambridge, MA. I was on a business trip with some miserable coworkers (which is why the event stands out in my mind). And, while the company was unappetizing, the experience was far from it. I remember the stately atmosphere, the incomparable service and the quality food. So, when I heard there was a Legal Sea Foods at the King of Prussia Mall, where we visited recently, I didn’t even ask for the names of other possible eateries. I was in!

Now to be fair, King of Prussia is not Cambridge, MA, but the mall is extensive and I was immediately impressed. The Legal Sea Foods is positioned unobtrusively in a corner of a Level 1 wing, adjacent to an exterior mall entrance, so guests don’t need to fight through the throngs of shoppers to reach their tables.

The restaurant is a more casual incarnation of the Cambridge version. This was not unexpected given its location. We were immediately seated although we were one-half hour early and the service, first-rate. From the hostess, to the wait staff to the people bussing tables, everyone was pleasant and accommodating. My only beef was with the quality and therefore, the value of the food.

The Maryland Cream of Crab Soup was delicious; the crab flavor, sweet and delicate, the crab itself, missing. My wife had the Crispy Fried Sea Scallops, sparse and overcooked. My entrée was the Seafood Casserole, with a sherry-garlic butter over scallops, shrimp, lobster and scrod. Again, delicious, only the lobster was missing.

At $80 for two people, two soft-drinks, a bowl of soup and two entrées, I think I’ll stick with my memories of Cambridge and bypass the out-of-town clones.
