“New favorite date spot!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2014 via mobile

I had never noticed this place while driving by before (it's tucked away in a business park of sorts), and while it doesn't look especially impressive on the outside, the ambience is GORGEOUS inside. Super classy and tasteful. Our meal (salad/soup/app/entree) was delectable from beginning to end. The app was my favorite - grits and shrimp. INCREDIBLE. Can't wait to come back!

“Great lunch for a large party”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2014

We had a large group Lunch for 12 people. Food was unique and great. Service was flawless. Had a duck chorizo sandwich, and a delicious brownie for dessert. Others had fish tacos, bacon wrapped meatloaf, and an amazing quiche. Would definitely go again.

“Just terrible.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

We have been to Sovana many, many times but this was the last. It is a poorly managed place that gets by because the food is usually good. This time, it wasn't. There was a long wait for our table even though we had a reservation, service was poor and our food wasn't cooked properly. I had to ask the hostess for our check, twice, because the server was nowhere to be found. And the last straw was receiving the bill for our party of six totaled with gratuity included but no subtotal for our meals and beverages.

“Celebrating hubby's Big 4-0!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

Reservations (preferably via Open Table) are a must. We arrived in time for our 7:30 reservation but was told we'd still have to wait 15-20 minutes. We headed to the bar, where I had the winter sangria (excellent!) and my husband ordered the Belgian Chimay. There was only 1 bartender and it was very busy with no place to sit and wait. We were then collected about 15 minutes later but it then took another 5 minutes to close out the bar bill because the bartender had no help! We were seated at a very tiny table. It was extremely loud and the table next to us was a group of 5 rowdy and screaming girls. All that aside, we ordered two glasses of wine and shared the appetizer of Shrimp and Grits with pork belly. Let's just say I could have eaten 10 dishes of this all by myself! We were given a basket of warm bread/sticks with olive oil and a chef's surprise amuse-bouche (a refreshing, palate cleanser of cold pasta salad with what tasted like pomegranate). Then we shared the entrees of Ricotta Cavatelli and Duck Confit & Brie pizza (they use a wood-fire) - both very good and no leftovers to take home. I had told my husband I baked him a birthday cake, so when the waiter brought the dessert menus to us, he mentioned this. The waiter mentioned that he understood, but that for birthday guests, they do comp a dessert. So, we ordered 1 of the liquid butterscotch cakes. It was slightly warm and hard, served with a small scoop of homemade vanilla ice-cream. The best part was the liquid caramel. It was OK - hubby mentioned my cake would top this! All in all, a very pricey place and very loud, with smaller portions, but delicious, quality and local food.

“Good honest food, good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013

Had the apple salad and grilled octopus. Nicely done. A little under seasoned.
The service was attentive and professional. The decor is simple yet attractive. A little noisy perhaps but the place was very full on a Friday evening. Always a consistently good experience.
