The Stebbins-Swayne B&B is top notch. It's only a couple blocks from the Kennett Square shops, but away from the noise of traffic driving by. A very short drive to the local wineries, Longwoods Gardens, and Winterthur, makes it an ideal location to explore the area.

The house is beautiful and rooms were clean, comfortable, and as shown on the website photos. The private bath was really nice too. Rosemary cooks delicious breakfast every morning, something different, fresh, great! She also has excellent suggestions on local happenings and directions to nearby attractions.

A+++++

“Wonderful Experience!”

Stebbins-Swayne Bed and Breakfast

Dec 23, 2007

My fiancee and I stayed at the Stebbins-Swayne B&B last Memorial Day (2007) and had a fantastic experience. Rosemary, the proprietress, was lovely and had great suggestions for places off-the-beaten track (such as the delicious Mexican ice cream parlor just blocks away). The house is gorgeous and only steps from the historic main street in Kennett Square. We were also only about 10 minutes away from Longwood Gardens by car. We stayed in the Cottage Room, which was romantic and charming. Do note (and Rosemary pointed this out ahead of time) that the bathroom is just outside of the room in a somewhat isolated hallway. The breakfasts she made were delicious, and she often included edible flowers from the garden. We had a wonderful trip and will probably go back again some time in the future.

This is a great bed and breakfast! We stayed in the Cottage Room although in retrospect the Empire Room would have been better if only for the claw foot tub! The rooms were impeccably clean and well kept. Amenities were sparse but at least the bath robes were incredibly soft. Also expect to hear a lot of creaking noises that can be attributed to beautiful old homes. And it's perfectly located a few blocks from a lot of great restaurants and stores.

Rosemary was a gracious host! And breakfast was delicious.

We had dinner at Catherine's which was FANTASTIC!! I highly recommend it. The wineries in the area are worth visiting. We went to see Winterthur... but was sorely disappointed. Don't go during their Yuletide season... you'll hear nothing about the house or the Du Ponts.

“Wonderful Weekend”

My boyfriend and I just spent a wonderful weekend at the Stebbins-Swayne B&B. The owner, Rosemary, was so accomodating. She made a scrumptious breakfast both mornings of our stay. Our room was comfortable and inviting. The house is tastefully decorated and the property is in a fantastic location. It's on a quiet, tree lined street a block away from the center of Kennett Square.

We visited Longwood Gardens nearby (I highly recommend it!). There are several wineries in the area as well. Rosemary is a native so she was delighted to answer any questions. She directed us to dinner at the Sovana Bistro. If you plan eat there, it's a BYOB and reservations are a must!

My husband and I stayed at the Stebbins-Swayne B&B last weekend. We had never been to Longwood Gardens, so we found the B&B on the internet, gave Rosemary (proprietor) a call --for availability (she had it) and we hopped in the car. A few hours later we arrive in quaint little Kennett Square and pulled in front of the B&B. Rosemary's a gracious host with a beautiful home. We were lucky enough to get the Empire Room (the bathroom IS gorgeous. Spent a wonderful evening in the backyard sipping wine, then walked to dinner at the State Street Grille (YUM!) [--] The service was impeccable and dinner was even better. It's a BYOB which worked out great, since we'd brought a bottle from home. I would highly recommend the B&B and the Grille. Longwood Gardens was absolutely gorgeous.
