My husband and I have been looking for an alternative to some well-established, but pricey and crowded eateries in the Kennett Square area: we finally found one. La Verona opened a few months ago on E. State St and recently obtained its liquor license: good thing too because one of the restaurant's best features is its spacious bar (and adjacent high tops) and window tables that beckon you in to a lively, casual setting. What impressed us most was the wide variety of really fresh, carefully prepared Italian food. La Verona offers a broad range of novel and traditional pasta dishes, as well as fish, lamb and veal (piccata with lemon and capers to die for) and pizzas. The salads and side dishes were fresh and creatively seasoned (you can get them served family style). Prices are very reasonable, and the staff is attentive and caring. Nice wine list and hot cappuccinos. An outdoor patio is coming, we were told, but there are already a few outside tables in front. We'll be back very soon.
