“Great Bed and Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

My wife and I recently had a delightful three-day stay at The Parsonage Bed and Breakfast. This B and B is in a historic home right the heart of Jim Thorpe, easily in walking distance to the shops and restaurants in the historic district. The rooms are all nicely decorated and neat. Maureen, the owner, was a fun host, providing all kinds of information and suggestions about the area, and serving delicious breakfasts. We would definitely stay at The Parsonage again.

This was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast. The parsonage is within a short walk from downtown. Maureen was wonderful from the beginning. We arrived late in the evening and after a quick tour of the common area (and where we could find port and homemade cookies), we settled into our room. The room was well decorated and clean. We stayed for two days; each breakfast was filling and delicious.

I stayed at The Parsonage last night, sharing a room with my sister. So, not exactly the romantic getaway! Maureen was very welcoming and accommodating, even allowing us to invite another family member to join us for breakfast. Because we were visiting family, we didn't spend time enjoying the common areas but they looked very nice.

My husband and I wanted a B & B close to Jack Frost Mountain, but did not want to stay right there. We wanted more for our weekend than what the mountain could offer. We wanted the quaintness of Jim Thorpe. Thus we came across The Parsonage for our lodging. What a perfect location. Walkable to the railroad, shops, and eateries. There was Port and a delicious breakfast. Our room was beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. Thought was definately given to providing you with what you would expect in your own home.

The innkeeper was very nice and really personable once you got to chatting. The home was lovely, decorated with some antiques and some newer pieces as well, and clean and neat as a pin. We stayed in the Molly McGuire room which was quiet and cozy for 2 with a comfy bed and awesome feather comforter. Though it had no real views except of the backyard, we enjoyed the privacy. Breakfast was tasty though not large and included a small plate of fresh mango, blueberries, and kiwi; a small piece of banana chocolate chip cake, and a variety of eggs Benedict with ham, spinach, tomato, and poached egg over a muffin. She also had a yummy pineapple zucchini jam to go with and of course coffee. Would possibly try another B&B on next trip if too cold to camp though I would certainly visit here again too.

Room Tip: There is no fitness center or swimming pool but with its location at the top of the hill you will ne...

All the great reviews are well deserved.

My wife and I spent two nights in the "Molly Maguire" room at the Parsonage B&B in Jim Thorpe and our stay couldn't have been better. The room was beautifully decorated and the bed was super comfortable. The breakfasts were simply wonderful.

On top of the great location, beautiful, comfortable room and great food, Maureen the owner was charming and so very informative about the area and the activities taking place.

We had an amazing weekend and we will stay at the Parsonage again!

Room Tip: I can't speak to the other rooms but the Molly Maguire room, which is at the back of the house w...

The location is convenient to all of the Jim Thorpe sights but is in a peaceful location a block beyond the hustle and bustle. Many lovely places to sit -- chairs in the yard, balcony, screened gazebo, living room, with games and books. Delicious breakfasts with fresh fruit, baked goods, entree (fancy french toast, eggs). Many nice extra touches -- cookies, port, coffee/tea available before breakfast, use of refrigerator. Maureen is gracious and helpful.
