“The warmest hospitality in Jim Thorpe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2011

To anyone planning a trip to Jim Thorpe- Stay at DeFeo's Manor! Richard and Ellen are the most welcoming, hospitable, and pleasant inn keepers I have ever stayed with.
The Manor is a beautiful building, and the rooms are spacious, well-furnished, comfortable and clean.
My husband and I stayed in the Suite, which offers the best view of Jim Thorpe's main street, Broadway, from the breakfast area. A continental breakfast was brought to our room each morning.
We felt very at-home with the DeFeo's, and we can't wait to return!

Room Tip: The Suite offers a wonderful view of the town's main street, Broadway

We were fortunate to get a reservation at De Feo's Manor B & B due to a cancellation they had at the last minute. We were greeted warmly by Richard and Ellen upon our arrival and were made to feel right at home.

The rooms we stayed in were lovely, spacious, airy, very clean, and full of amenities. What was especially enjoyable to us was the way Manor B & B put us into deep "vacation mode".

Manor B & B is convenient to a broad range of dining experiences, shopping, entertainment and local interest attractions. We had a great view down Broadway from both rooms we stayed in.

Richard DeFeo is truly a fascinating, multi-talented gentleman and Ellen is very know-
ledgeable about the town and its history and is a gifted baker. The house keeping was excellent. Kathy - the housekeeper - was a gem.

I cannot imagine a better B & B experience.

Room Tip: If the suite is available, definitely spend the extra few dollars to reserve it. You'll be glad...

Richard and Ellen welcomed us to their home. After a tour of the property, home history, and other interesting information we were brought to the "suite." The pictures on the site tell it all. The highlight of the room is the breakfast area with a perfect view down Broadway and up to the opera house. Fresh beautiful roses that Richard somehow got me for 10 bucks had my wife sold on the stay, some complimentary cream sherry (nice touch) solidified that this stay would work for me too! The home is filled with many, many, many antiques and items. On the lower level is a store where we found some great pieces (Shhhh. don't tell Ellen but they were under priced!) After walking around town, we were offered some good advice from Richard and Ellen on local eateries. We were up and out too early for breakfast the first day, biking away the morning on some single track. We returned to find the breakfast items store in our in room fridge. At night, Richard and Ellen offered us some wine and we stayed up on the porch chatting away like we were all old friends from way back. We then found out Richard was an accomplished artist and Ellen a former teacher with a good bag of teaching tricks. Richard offered up a beautiful Jazz/Blues artwork and in turn signed it for us! We are getting it framed. In the morning delivered to our room were warm scones, fresh fruit, juice and even some foil to wrap up the roses to take home. When we left, we felt assured that Richard and Ellen would be taking care of our room until we get a chance to return. That is how at home we were made to feel. As for the lost item, we lost our stress during the stay and if you find it, please don't return it!

We stayed for 2 nights DeFeo Manor and in two different rooms. They were both well decorated and clean and the DeFeos were delightful hosts. Their prices were very good and we had a really great time in the wonderful town of Jim Thorpe!

From the minute you ride up the hill and see DeFeo's Manor nestled on the side of the road, you feel like you've reached your destination! They'll have a (much-coveted) parking space waiting for you and the covered porch will refresh even the weariest traveler. The DeFeos are the family you WISH you always had...they'll make sure you have a wonderful, relaxing time and the rooms will take you back a hundred years with their victorian details. The beds are comfy...the bathrooms clean and updated...the breakfast cart full of yummy goodies to get your day in Jim Thorpe off to the right start. We visit every year and highly recommend the gracious hospitality!

Room Tip: Ask for the pink room...turret overlooking town!

This bed and breakfast is fantastic and I highly recommend it. My spouse and I went to Jim Thorpe and we went into almost every place that offered accommodation. We were quite intrigued by the old manor; it was truly like stepping back in time. The couple who run it are wonderful and we enjoyed our conversations with them immensely. There are two rooms and I had a hard time deciding which room to stay in. I picked the suite with the three rooms and loved it. We figured the view down the main street of Jim Thorpe must truly be the best view in the town. We sat out in the morning on the upper porch and drank our coffee. Life doesn't get much better than that!

My family and I stopped at the Defeo's Bed and Breakfast while passing through town. What a great place! The inn is just beautiful and the DeFeo's are the most charming couple. They gave us a tour of the inn and gave us a bit of the history as well. They are so warm and friendly. I will definitely go back there again!
