“Lovely accomodations and lovely hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2011

We stayed for 2 nights DeFeo Manor and in two different rooms. They were both well decorated and clean and the DeFeos were delightful hosts. Their prices were very good and we had a really great time in the wonderful town of Jim Thorpe!

From the minute you ride up the hill and see DeFeo's Manor nestled on the side of the road, you feel like you've reached your destination! They'll have a (much-coveted) parking space waiting for you and the covered porch will refresh even the weariest traveler. The DeFeos are the family you WISH you always had...they'll make sure you have a wonderful, relaxing time and the rooms will take you back a hundred years with their victorian details. The beds are comfy...the bathrooms clean and updated...the breakfast cart full of yummy goodies to get your day in Jim Thorpe off to the right start. We visit every year and highly recommend the gracious hospitality!

Room Tip: Ask for the pink room...turret overlooking town!

This bed and breakfast is fantastic and I highly recommend it. My spouse and I went to Jim Thorpe and we went into almost every place that offered accommodation. We were quite intrigued by the old manor; it was truly like stepping back in time. The couple who run it are wonderful and we enjoyed our conversations with them immensely. There are two rooms and I had a hard time deciding which room to stay in. I picked the suite with the three rooms and loved it. We figured the view down the main street of Jim Thorpe must truly be the best view in the town. We sat out in the morning on the upper porch and drank our coffee. Life doesn't get much better than that!

My family and I stopped at the Defeo's Bed and Breakfast while passing through town. What a great place! The inn is just beautiful and the DeFeo's are the most charming couple. They gave us a tour of the inn and gave us a bit of the history as well. They are so warm and friendly. I will definitely go back there again!

Although Rich and Ellen are not blood family, they sure make you feel that way. I was in town on business and visited they're amazing home, which they graciously offer for all to enjoy as a B&B. They're no nonsense common sense approach to accommodations is a "must do" when in Jim Thorpe. You are made to feel "welcome from the gate", thank you for the tour, looking forward to a return trip when I have more time.

Room Tip: Simply tell the keepers what you like, its there

This is by far the best B&B in Jim Thorpe!

The DeFeos made us feel warmly welcomed and perfectly at home. The victorian mansion has a unique and comforting atmosphere. It's situated directly across the street from the Mauch Chunk Opera House right in the heart of this charming little town. "The Suite", in which we stayed, is a charming room with a spectacular view of the better part of the main track and its shops.

The room is always well stocked with anything you may need and a gorgeous breakfast is brought to your door on a cart at precisely 9A.M.

The DeFeos are a beautiful couple, always available to tell you some local lore and chat intelligently about art, life, music, film, books, history and to offer their learned advice on most any topic that may come up.

This retreat feels like a home away from home and the charm is unbeatable.

Be sure to check out their in-home "gift shoppe" for some unique and vintage treasures!

We plan to visit at least once a year and wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else! And if the DeFeos are out their close friend Kathy will take care of you with her down to earth charm and hospitality!

Thank you!!!!

Room Tip: The Suite!

Though we have never been to a bed & breakfast, DeFeo Manor was recommended to us and we are so thankful we stayed there! Richard & Ellen were such gracious hosts to me & my husband. The breakfast was healthy & light, perfect before spending the day in town. The house was beautiful, so much character from the 1800's when the house was built. We would recommend this bed & breakfast to anyone and can't wait to return!!
