We have been talking about visiting this place for a while. The reviews rate this place as number one in the area but I wasn't impressed. Don't get me wrong, we had a very nice dinner but nothing earth shattering. Offset on Race street right off of route 209 in Jim Thorpe the restaurant is very clean and well cared for with nice artwork from one of the owners adorning the walls.
The menu looked very nice online but was a bit different when we got there. We had the salmon starter to split and they charge an additional three dollars to do so. We each got two generous portions and it was quite tasty.
Our entrees were the crab cakes and the pork tenderloins. They were good but nothing to write home about. For the cost I expected a somewhat more imaginative dish.
For dessert we had the lemon sorbet and chocolate gelato which was the highlight of the meal. Both tasted homemade. The gelato (ice cream) was very thick in the spirit of European style ice cream. It was the best I tasted since we stayed in the Kirkland Islands in the North Sea. American ice cream has way too much air mixed in while real ice cream should be thick and not disappear when it melts.
Must say the service was great and we will return in the future to give it another shot.
