“Great place to stay fro an early flight”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

Room was very pleasant and very comfortable beds. Parking was reasonably priced considering the location. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our daughter wanted to be at the airport at 3am and it was an easy quick drive to take her and see her off then return for a sleep before returning home later that day. Even work being undertaken outside was conducted at a minimum disturbance to the guests - I was amazed to see a giant crane outside that hadn't even woken us as it was being setup We would definitely stay here again.

Dear Austimum,

Thank you very much for your feedback about your recent stay at Mercure Sydney International Airport. One of the great thing about the hotel besides the close proximity to the International Airport is our parking. We have plenty of parking for our guest who might want to leave their cars here whilst they enjoy a holiday elsewhere.

Our hotel has recently been renovated and since our hotel is not situated under any direct flight path, you will be able to have a good night sleep each and every time you stay at the hotel.

We look forward to welcoming you back at the hotel in the near future.

Regards,
Joleen Hurst

We regularly stay at this hotel because it is close to the airport, has a shuttle service when we need it, has a good restaurant and the overall service is of a high standard. The only thing we find is that the cost is high for our budget so we need to save a little to overcome this to make our trips pleasurable.

I've marked this down from my last visit.

Firstly the website shows a 10 min walk from the airport, but from Int terminal more like 20, and forget it from the Domestic terminal - it's maybe 4km. The taxis hate to take you here because they wait a long time and want a big fare so there is no real option except the shuttle.

There is no information on the Mercure website concerning the shuttle departure points or times and if you phone and get pick up point but no info on times except it is about every 45 minutes. The service is run by a private company, Super Shuttle with uniformly arrogant and abrupt drivers; not want you want after a long trip.

It costs $6 each way which you can pay on your hotel bill.

My check in went OK but was given a handicap room where the shower on a hose waved around spraying water everywhere when you turned it on. The gave me another better room after a short wait, about 20 min, but the TV remote did not work and the TV had only one channel ABC news that you got by accidet rather than by design. I called reception and housekeeping several times but the phone rang out each time, Sydney TV not really worth watching anyway.

No power point on the wall or near the desk for you laptop or charger, so crawl under the desk, unplug the desk lamp and alternatively plug in the phone charger then the Laptop - primitive!!! And obviously never had input into fittings from travelers with mobiles, computers etc.

Lastly internet RIPOFF!!! "Free" 30 minutes (for total stay, not each day) but this is snail slow wifi in the lobby with nowhere really to sit and do work. Then $11 an hour after that. Ridiculous and RIPOFF. SHAME ON MERCURE!!! Disgraceful charging this amount when internet is so cheap to get these days.

Decor is typical Mercure, server greys and blacks, furniture like it was bought from Ikea.

NOT RECOMMENDED!!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the carpark (x10, x12) have view to Sydney and may be quieter than on the other si...

Dear DRMB,

Thank you very much for taking the time and providing us with your feedback. It is through our customer's comments we are able to make changes and improve our product and service. We are sorry for any inconvenience you felt during you stay at the hotel this time.

I have passed your comments to each department's Manager who will be sure to investigate the incidents you have mentioned. With regards to this internet, this is serviced by a third party supplier and pricing is outside our control. For this reason, we have introduced the complimentary 30 minutes wifi in our lobby and this is valid once every 24 hours.

Thank you once again for your feedback and we hope we get the chance to welcome you back to the hotel in the future.

Regards,
Joleen Hurst
