“Luxurious Paradise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2010

This has been one of the most beautiful resorts I have ever stayed in.

My fiance and I just got back from a 2 night stay in a Studio Swim out room and we couldn't be happier. The room was very modern looking, had a very comfortable king sized bed, big bathroom, basic pay-TV stations, kitchenette & also had a large veranda where you could hop straight off into the pool.

Check in and out was so fast and efficient. Reception staff were very helpful with advice and knowledge of local tours.

The resort is so beautiful, I couldn't stop taking photos.

The pool was too cold to go swimming in, though we enjoyed going in one of the heated spa. The spa could sit at least 10 people.

My only complaint would be the shower, excellent size and water pressure but the door wasn't sealed and it would wet most of the bathroom floor which got annoying.

Other than that we REALLY enjoyed our stay and they'll be seeing us again when the weather heats up so we can go in their pool!

Its a shame this hotels first impression is that of luxury and modern decore. Don't judge a book by its cover! Reception only gave us 1 key instead of 2, after I had read that a missing key is charged at $10 I went to reception to notify them, she asked what my room number was (as if I was taking up her time) and issued a key on the spot, no questions or ID asked! I could of been anyone making up a room number! We had to stay for a wedding and could only book a minimum of 2 nights at $153/night studio with no breakfast- rip off.
Our studio room was ok but lacked character. Tiny bathroom.Shower flooded the bathroom floor everytime.Their version of "room service" is you call the restaurant and then walk down and pick up your food in styro-foam containers from the rude staff. If we had of known that we would of just went to the restaurant and dined. The food was dry and we wished we had went takeout as it would of been much cheaper.
Housekeeping didn't arrive until half way throught the day - a bit after lunch. Worst housekeeping ever - didn't wash up, "room service" containers still left in room, didn't vaccum or tidy up. Bascically all they did was pull the bedding up, threw the cushions anywhere on the bed and replaced the towels. No complimentary shower caps or shower gel, so if you forget these your stuffed!
I complained at reception and got a short and non interested response - "housekeeping are only supposed to tidy up the bedding, replace towels and empty rubbish" (rubbish was still there so we handed it to HER!)and mumbled something about Strata. I have had better housekeeping and service at a $99 inn!
There was canapes and drinks around the pool before the wedding reception, however there was no signage or roping off from other guests, therefore the other guests got to blend in and eat and drink up the wedding tab!
The resort is situated in a weird location, out the back of Salamander Bay in the middle of well..nowhere - beside the shopping centre. So if you are wanting beaches or views this is about a 10 minute drive from any of that in Nelson Bay.
Theres a reason why theres no comment cards - they don't want to know.
Overall this place would be great if there was new staff and a re-look at how the bathrooms are designed. It could then have a lot of potential.

I had a bad experience the first time i came her with the rain & all but the second time it was beautiful weather. We booked a One bedroom lagoon, It was upstairs overlooking the lagoon Pool. Staff and neighbouring people staying were very friendly.
The pool is excellent, dont forget to wear your sunscreen! walking around it twice got me burnt!
The beaches here are beautiful, hands down the best i have ever been to you can also ride camals at the beach. Don't forget to try the Taboggon park which is not even 5 minutes from the resort.
Very happy with my stay, everything was clean the apartment was big with all kitchen facilities, we cooked our own food for 2 days.
Overall it as a fantastic stay. very happy with everything! Have already recommended this to my sister, she went in January and loved it also!

Great pool etc etc. Apartments are nice enough - clean etc. Arrived and the fridge had been set to defrost and had wet towels on the floor all around it.

Bar closes early every night which is very frustrating and room service ends very early too.

Upon check out - bill was supposedly settled - but now have a large unknown charge to my card - dispute is taking forever to resolve and no-one seems to know what they are doing. Very disorganised

We were rather worried on reading other reviews about this place being classed as a motel. This couldnt be further from the truth. What we did find was a gem of a place with a cracking room rate to boot. From the minute we arrived the staff were friendly and helpful and the room was incredibly modern and clean and served all the purposes we needed it to. The resort has a huge swimming pool which navigates the whole of the resort and is well worth a dip. Indeed, ask for a swimout room on check in. There is also a good gym and bar to hand. The one downside (and it is only a small one) is that it is a few KM into Nelson Bay where the main run of bars and restaurants are should you want to go out. Overall a first class resort that you shouldnt hesitate to book if you find yourself in this area. Its not a conventional hotel but more a classy serviced apartment and this works in its favour.

Just returned from 2 nights at this resort and found it very good value. We stayed in a 2 bedroom spa view room. Photos you see on this website are exactly correct. Fantastic lagoon pool surrounding the whole resort. Apartments were clean and well-stocked with amenities for your stay. We didn't eat at the restaurants as we cook our own meals. Location is good as there is a huge mall just opposite (Woolies, Kmart, Bi-Lo, Ten-pin bowling). It would have been good if the resort provided pool towels complimentary. They actually charge $2 per towel. Other resorts of this calibre provide towels FOC. Pity the weather over the Easter weekend wasn't very good. Otherwise, our stay would have been perfect.
